Have you been given a manual cover for free ‘in the interim’?

Giving us one for free is in their playbook as to how to respond / make the crew who have incompatible VINs whole.

FWIW I don’t think there’s any chance they come up with a workaround at this point, despite the awesome service crew I talk to saying they could probably figure it out in an hour if they had approval to do so.

No, I bought the interrobang cover ( Interrobang Manual Tonneau Cover for the Rivian R1T – Interrobang Automotive ) and it's working well for my needs. A few times a year the powered cover would be nice but I have to decide if its $3k nice. Or maybe Rivian will decide for me and never offer the cover to those of us in the "special" VIN range.

Now this is truly comical. Why on earth would they ever give someone a manual tonneau for free, makes no sense. Even for those of us that had the powered tonneau forcefully removed from our configs after they found the issues with 1st gen PTC, we all had to either add the MTC (for $800, IIRC) or go without. Even then, it took them around 9 months to deliver my MTC and it certainly wasn't free. No one is entitled to a tonneau cover.

Wishful thinking. The sort who think they are entitled to have a Rivian that behaves like a charity when it suits them. Then criticize the company for being unprofitable when company financials are discussed. $800 is probably at cost. $1800 full retail. To give $800 away per person… name a for-profit business who would give that as a handout.

Don’t shoot the messenger. Just telling you how they handled it for me and some helpful conversations I had with them at a local showroom.

It shouldn't take more than a day or two at most

Dropped off Thursday. Picked up next day. There are even reports of it being done mobile service, although that was not an option in my area.

No, at least nothing has changed on that front. I inquired about a month ago with the service centre.

Has anyone had one installed recently? I ordered it the day it went live in the gear shop. My initial appointment was early December but that was canceled because they didn’t have the parts. I rescheduled for this Friday and now they tell me they still don’t have the parts and I have to push
the installation to March. My service center is in Portland.

When I ordered, they scheduled me within a month, I actually had to delay it a couple of weeks from when they could initially get me in.

Got it installed in a few days in December. Works flawlessly and is such a major upgrade.

Last I heard after several appointments were rescheduled was a parts shortage was the problem and we’ll call you to schedule installation when we get parts.
