This isn't a rant; it's mostly for my amusement (and possibly for yours) as I await an outcome. Anyone who correctly diagnoses the problem(s) gets a very expensive (but imaginary) prize.

2023 Gen 1 Quad R1T with about 32,000 miles. The vehicle is parked in the driveway with the EVSE plugged in. Symptoms and particulars:
  • The vehicle was last driven Thursday evening; it was plugged in then and appears to have successfully charged that night to 70% (the limit for which it's set). The app for the EVSE shows that charging ended at about 5:00 a.m. Friday, and it shows no charging activity since then.
  • The vehicle was not driven Friday.
  • Since at least Saturday morning, the vehicle will not unlock; neither the Rivian app, the fob, the key card, nor the wrist band will open the vehicle.
  • Rivian Service was unable to unlock the vehicle remotely.
  • The Rivian app shows the vehicle is sleeping; as far as I know, it's shown this state continuously for at least 24 hours.
  • For that same period, the app also has shown the charge port door is open; of course, it is open--because the vehicle is plugged in--but the app does not show the vehicle is plugged in/charging.
  • The app has continued to show the HV battery is at 70%, despite the more than 48 hours since it was last charged. (In my conversation with them yesterday, Rivian Service noted they could see the 70% SOC.)
  • The "Energy" screen of the Rivian app shows the last sync was at 4:55 p.m.; it's unclear what day (Friday?) that was, however.
  • The vehicle does not appear to be connected to the home wi-fi network.
  • The (single) 12-volt battery is original, and the vehicle has not previously had any significant electrical problems of which I'm aware.
Rivian Service sent the report to the local Service Center (which is a good 1.5 miles away!) and requested they send a Mobile Technician to try to unplug the vehicle (as it can't be towed at the moment), but the Service Center won't see that request until Monday morning. I assume (but don't know) that a technician would try either to access the manual frunk and charge plug releases or, if she/he/they suspect a 12-volt problem, try to jump the 12-volt system.

Again, this isn't a rant (even if I'm a bit annoyed), but a chance for the cognoscenti to shine. I'll report back after I have any news.

Random guess is a dead 12v. It sounds like you are waiting for mobile service to do any diagnosis; I would be so impatient that I would be out there looking at it. I’d first check for voltage at the trailer plug (not the jump leads) and also go about getting the frunk open to access the battery itself as you described.

This is not unusual for me. I charged to 85% on Feb 27th but ended up not driving as originally planned the next day. I’m just at 84% right now.

After 2+ years, I've learned not to be impatient. In any case, I'm not going to be able to fix the vehicle, so I'll let them do it (when they get around to it). (Also, I've read that there typically isn't power in the trailer socket this long after the vehicle shuts down--is that wrong? I did check it yesterday at your suggestion and didn't detect voltage on any pins.)

For me, zero percent loss after three days is unusual. Either things aren't running as usual and/or the vehicle isn't communicating any use/loss to the app.

Dead 12V but try pressing the frunk button many many times. It’s apparently a method to “wake” a stubborn Rivian. You never know.
Rivian Service had me try that, but no go. (I didn't know that technique, so it was good to hear about it.)

I'm not expecting more than a phone call today but, as I'm going fishing, that's okay.

I received a (proactive) text from Rivian today to replace my 12V battery. I’m scheduled for a mobile visit this Friday.

6-12V batteries in low state of charge, dead, loose terminals or bad grounds have been the answer to ICE gremlins for many many many decades. Why not the same level of 12V gremlins for EV's?

If you're on the original 12V batteries that has got to be it. Most of us Gen1 are on at least our second one...
Yes it’s original, Gen 1.

Sorry I was talking about OP
Yes, Gen 1 (build was August or September 2023). No 12-volt warning, however.

Tualatin Service Center called this morning (even offering an appt this afternoon); scheduled one for Thursday, after I return from fishing. Advisor did suggest they'd likely replace the 12-volt and see how things are after that.
