Did you get them road force balanced?
Yes. I asked DT and was told it’s done. It’s been tolerable since but there is still some steering wheel vibration. Maybe this software update makes it even better.

“Reduced steering wheel vibrations at highway speeds”

Ok how in the hell do you do this with software?

Not that I’m complaining, because I was just being annoyed this morning by a vibrating steering wheel on the highway.

If they can fix that with software, it gives me some hope they can address some of the erratic suspension behavior I continue to have.
We just got back from a 500mi road trip through AZ to Phoenix and in those 75mph speed limit zones it's just so shaky. Our local SCs didn't really do the best with balancing my new tires, Firestone didn't do a great job either, so was thinking about getting a road force balance at America's Tire.

I assume they stiffen the steering response at higher speeds to help reduce the vibrations, but that means nothing if the wheels are truly out of balance, right?

Those with shaky steering wheels - does your R1 have the “countermeasure” heavier steering wheel?

If the tires are out of balance, yeah that's a different issue, but I think there is something else going on for me. I'm extraordinarily sensitive to things like tire balance, and I can tell my tires are perfectly balanced -- most of the time, and at most speeds, there's nothing suggesting my tires are imbalanced. This steering wheel shaking only shows up "sometimes" (just like my suspension harshness/rattliness only happens "sometimes") and only around 75 mph. So that's why this particular line in the software update caught my eye.

No more updates without textong
I'm sure the software dev team at Rivian will delay every software deployment (including possible emergency bug fixes) until the one feature you want is ready to go. That won't upset anyone else, right?

I don't understand the thirst for Rivian texting. I mean, I have my iPhone right here next to me, and I can always say, "Hey Siri, send a message to so-and-so" or "Hey Siri, read my last message." What am I missing?
1. Notifications that do not require picking up your phone
2. Ability to triage messages and choose to ignore some based on message preview without having to take any action.
3. Having to have "Hey Siri" enabled all the time
4. Having to have your phone in a location where its native mic can pick up the wake phrase

I'm sure there are others, but that's off the top of my head.

What the base model Nissan Sentra rental the SC gave me for a month had for infotainment functionality.

Just ignore them all, and deal with it when you’re no longer behind the wheel. We’ll all be safer for it.

Right? If it's THAT important, they'd be calling not texting.

Lots of 1st world problems going on in this thread. Meh.

Any predictions regarding when this update starts rolling out? I predict tomorrow.
