My first charge at an IONNA station and I must say this is the model of the future. 10 cents/kwh cheaper than Tesla and much and less than RAN or EA. No subscription required just ,39/kwh, has both CCS and NACS plugs. I just wish there were more of them.

I live in Nebraska and drive to Colorado a BUNCH. There are Ionnas all across Kansas along I-70. Not a one along I-80, although the EVGo/GMEnergy stations are pretty nice. It helps that I get free charging at those thanks to my Lyriq, though. Both that forum and this now this one are raving about the Rechargeries. I can't wait to try one!!

Agreed. I only charge at Tesla and IONNA. The Mercedes Benz chargers are great but not as common. EA and EVGO are far off options and would avoid, if possible.

IONNA recently announced a partnership with Circle K to further expand their network. I can't wait to see more IONNA chargers in my routes. Only good experiences so far.

I used IONNA a few times over Christmas last year. The charging speed was noticeably less than Tesla and EVgo, and no one else was charging there but me. The price was less, though, on a road trip, I'd pay more to sit less.

Yeah, IONNA is great. RAN is great too. Tesla is such a big network now that’s it hit or miss.

State of Charge had a recent video, Ionna To Take Over And Upgrade Circle K's Expansive EV Charging Network , talking about the Ionna-Circle K link up and noted that Ionna will be replacing many of the existing DCFC units at Circle K locations. They also mentioned the link ups with Wawa and Sheetz so they seem to be going after the convenience store tie ins which is probably a good thing.

They have 400kw chargers and I hit over 200kw on my charge, similar to Tesla. It is totally dependent on your battery state, not really the charger. I just really appreciate the flat rate and plug & charge capability. That is the experience you should have everywhere to really accelerate EV adoption.

Good thing indeed. The RAN has several stops at malls which are great during the day but leaves you with absolutely nowhere to go the bathroom on an overnight trip. Being tied to gas stations at least means you have a place to buy snacks and use the bathroom. IONNA seems to get it.

They are not cheaper than Tesla WITH A MEMBERSHIP discount. If you're going on a trip, the membership discount combined with the lower prices, will often be the lowest cost option.

Except for the part where you also have to pay for the membership, so the per-kW price better be that much lower than Ionna’s.

Agreed. I tried my first Ionna station a few weeks back.

The pricing was reasonable, I didn't have to deal with Tesla /EA membership pricing nonsense, and the shade structure was nice.

Most of my complaints with other networks have gone away over the last few years, so it's not like Ionna = good and everyone else = bad.

I do like Ionna's model, and the lower pricing without a membership is a major plus.

It's very dependent on location, and sometimes time of day (Tesla has some locations with low time of day pricing).

So, if I'm on a trip, and ONE of the stops could be IONNA, but I'm charging a lot more times, and NONE of those stops can be IONNA (because they're not around those locations), then the Tesla stop makes more sense.

For example, on a recent trip ABRP suggested IONNA, when the nearby Tesla with membership was cheaper, and I had dozens of charges over multiple days each way.

Sure, for a one off charge, it might make sense.

I'd love to try out an Ionna station - too bad the one nearest to me is 250+ miles away!

I could have sworn I saw a press release somewhere that the 39 cents/kWh was an initial start of operations thing from last year, yet it persists. I wonder when it's gonna change - I don't trust many companies that much...

In the beginning, they were going to either build out entire convivence stores or take over old buildings and re-do them, but I bet you that they realized that this was going to be much more expensive. Partnering with pre-existing chains is much smarter (less for them to build, connects to known brands to build trust, etc...)

In Ellensburg, WA, RAN vs the two Tesla stations:

Member/Brand owner priceOther users price
RAN$0.45/kWH$0.49/kWh
Tesla #1 (up to 250kW)$0.41/kWH$0.57/kWh
Tesla #2 (up to 325 kW)$0.38/kWh$0.53/kWh

So it's interesting to see the RAN kind of snuggled in between the range of Tesla pricing. Wonder if that's the case in other areas.

Plus, the RAN has a trailer pull-thru spot - the Tesla stations don't.
