It might vary by region. Mark ups a real thing, at least in the Southeast from my experience. I'll be more than happy to be wrong, but only time will tell.
Why not just use a broker service to avoid the dealership and markups?

He got 508 miles at 80kph / 50mph in Efficiency Mode!

He got 538 miles before the iX became undriveable (when he ran out of battery charge completely - at 30 miles past when charge said 0%)
A very significant number indeed. Obviously the R1 and R2 will be much lower. But it would be interesting to see the numbers at 50 mph for a direct comparison. Maybe that test on Rivians is already available?

Where are you seeing this? If anything, you can get BMW EVs (i4, iX) for well under MSRP.

If dealers markup the iX3 initially (most will not) it will end quickly as production ramps up. The two dealerships I've dealt with in the past have always been MSRP or less for all BMWs outside of some really rare limited edition models like the M3 CS. They just have a list, and you wait until it's your turn to order.

The fear of markups is way overblown.
I think you might be right about this. I just spoke with the local BMW dealer and they said, it will list at MSRP

Haven't done it before. Wasn't sure how successful these are. If I end up loving the alternatives enough, I wouldn't be against it. Traditional car buying has not been very fun in my experience lol

I am with you on all points. I hate, hate, hate the stealership experience. I discussed it with Gemini which recommended three brokers who specialize in BMWs in my area. Obviously it makes a difference if you are leasing or buying and where you live and trade ins and all the rest, but If I end up deciding to do something it is going to be with a broker (or Costco). I cannot abide the thieving rats in the stealership industry.

Side note for fellow veterans, I stumbled upon the fact that BMW has a pretty nice veterans discount program that currently runs $1,500 - $4,000 depending on model.

Oh man... that sucks. I was just thinking I could ignore the iX5 which is half neue klasse and half CLAR. But with 400 miles of range I and going to have to take it seriously. hrumpf
I just pulled the EPA source documents on the iX5 60 (attached) and ran the very preliminary data about mass/wheels/aero through my range model. Too soon preliminary to publish but it looks like it may actually beat the iX3 on range (i.e. > 420 miles EPA and something very close to 400 miles at 70 mph. Oh and add 200 miles in less than 10 minutes. We will see.

Stupid BMW may have given me a better reason to part with more of my money.

Latest update from my dealer this morning:

The order bank will open on May 6th. I will be able to build my iX3 and submit a deposit on that day to secure my order. Deliveries will begin over the summer.

This is sooner than I want, only because our R1S lease isn't up until March 2027. So I might delay my order until fall, hoping for a delivery in Dec-Feb.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like deliveries coincide with R3 and the ability to order and see the configuration is a month ahead of Rivian.

Thanks for the info. sooner than I would like too. My company is not taking my company car until October. It is why the late R2 reservation worked so well

Terrible photoshop fun. The modified iX3 looks so much better than the stock iX3…I almost would consider buying if it looked like this. Rivian design is much better.

If the iX3 design is polarizing there is always the Volvo which looks pretty good.
The Volvo is kind of the sweet spot between all of the alternatives, IMO. My main gripe with it is the door handles. I'll have to check them out in person to see how responsive they are. If they just did normal door handles, it'd be the winner in my book. Digging their sand dune color too.

$21K off our '24 iX, $23K off our '24 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe.

Delivered to our house. Less than 30 minutes between the two total time spent online, with the dealer, with the transport service. No time spent at a dealer.
