FWIW Kyle says in this recent video that R2 supports V2H. 14:35 minute mark.
Of course it does. But so do both gens of R1...

R2 support a 'simple' V2L... The patent is for a more-complex higher power V2L and we can only hope Rivian supports both R1 and R2...

They are absolute fools to not rush this into production. Do they have any idea how many storm sensitive owners that can't wait to get their hands on a quiet energy system that actually starts when it's needed? I would buy this in a heartbeat over having to listen to my generator after a hurricane.
100% - there are many, many owners of R1s who have solar and who do not have enough battery power to get through the night off the grid. In sunny places like where I live, it would cut my electric bill substantially if I could work off my battery when power is most expensive and when solar isn't generating. Do not know why this isn't a bigger priority (except for - R2)

Yep, Enphase solar, single Powerwall battery pack (~13kWh.) During the summer on hot days, I often drain the Powerwall during "peak" price time (5P-9P) even while still getting solar, solely from cooling the house. And I set my thermostat to let the house get warmer during those hours.

In the winter when I'm using a heat pump to heat the house? Guaranteed I'll drain the Powerwall before 9 PM.

I think the way to go is to output 30A AC like the Ford Lightning does and let people have an electricial install a generator inlet/lockout when they presumably install their home charger. I get that it is nice to have the one installation solution, but as mentioned, time and market share is wasting.

I also think that Ford dropped the ball with the lightning. Both of these companies should have a team of marketing people ready to contact people when a hurricane, blizzard, or other power outage event happens to document people using their EVs to power their houses.

Even a lot of anti-EV preppers are now turning towards EVs as a power backup and transportation solution instead of constantly maintaining a huge fuel supply that expires.

I installed a solar panel array last year with a Franklin battery that has a generator inlet with the option to charge the battery off a generator or 30A EV if there is no sun. I have been hoping that the R2 would deliver the 30A I need to do it. I love our Franklin battery, but it is a 15kw battery and I am constantly amazone when I see it and then my R1 with such a larger battery in the driveway.

I agree with everyone. V2H should be and maybe high priority. But, with most businesses there are multiple high priorities. I have grid-tied solar on my house and am considering getting batteries. My townhome doesn't have solar but it would be nice to be able to hook up the R1 in-case of a power outage. Absolutely agree that this would be a huge selling point due to increasing climate issues.

As well as general increases in all energy costs which are expected to continue increase at higher than historical rates for the foreseeable future.

I just installed a solar array with the Franklin battery and am also waiting to be able to plug in my R1T or soon to be had R2 into the generator outlet - that would be awesome!
