You kids - they don't have their own devices, email, tech, etc. I'm thinking of creating a second account under my Spotify family plan and attaching it to a backup email address that's a registered driver of the car. This would allow me to get in my car normally and have my adult / personalized spotify but if I set the seat controls correctly I could seamlessly switch to the "other driver profile" and have access to the kid friendly spotify. There's got to be a better solution though, right?!?

My kiddo uses his own headphones and tablet for music & games when in the car. That way I can listen to my own music/podcasts.

Spotify lets you make playlists...I have one for me, and one for the grandkids.

Don't use Spotify?

Edit: To be clear, this is not meant seriously.

Right now I just tolerate a blend of Sesame Street and my music… I was thinking of using one of the other services for kid music but haven’t gotten that far. I’d imagine the proposed solution would work if you always drive, otherwise you’d need another profile for the other driver… once and a while I hit “ignore from music taste” in the app on the kids music, it hasn’t started recommending the wiggles or anything yet so I wonder if Spotify understands the struggle

I do exactly what you are suggesting. The car has it's own account.

I also have a playlist of kids stuff and then click the "ignore from music taste" so I dont get suggestions for the random kids stuff. So far that has worked great for us.
Our only issue right now is our home Sonos is also connected to the same Spotify account so I will occasionally get booted if my family starts playing something at home.

Let your college-aged daughter sign in to her account and enjoy listening to “her” music for a while, after she heads back to school. Then randomly start listening to your favorite music and adding it to HER playlist. Finally get caught months later when driving and Spotify keeps switching off. Struggle back and forth until she calls to tell you to sign out of her account. SHE’S trying to listen at the same time! … Hope she enjoys listening to more of “my” music!!!

I gave up. Use Tidal for me, Spotify is for kids music. Easier for me than some because I like listening to music by Album rather than playlists or algorithms, and Tidal is great if you curate your own album collection in there and just listen that way. Totally understand that won't work for all that just want to hop in and click on a recommended playlist or something like that, since Tidal's algorithms aren't great (and their Search sucks too). But maybe try Apple Music as an alternative?

Same. And attached a separate email to the Alexa at home also, since I learned the hard way that whenever the kids played music at home, the music in my car would cut off. And then vice versa. Took us a few days to figure out what was happening.
