  1. No heat while driving, heat while sitting - G1 R1T

Only happens while driving. Sitting resolves the issue it appears. I agree. Feels like a sensor/software issue as the truck is clearly making heat when it wants to. For some reason it decides to not to any longer and I'm stuck until it sits for a minute. Any idea how to pull data from the...
  2. No heat while driving, heat while sitting - G1 R1T

I'll try this on the way home this afternoon. Ran out to lunch. Preheated from the office, truck was warm when I got there. Lunch spot with clients was only a few blocks away. Stayed warm that whole drive. Got inside and about half way through lunch I reheated the truck and put it on "2hr...
  3. No heat while driving, heat while sitting - G1 R1T

Same thing. That's how I had it this morning on the way in. Drove fine for3-5miles then started blowing cold air. Is it possible that something is "freezing up" as I'm driving through the bitter cold air? Doesn't make a ton of sense to me, assuming there is antifreeze in the cooling/heating...
  4. First real tow with Rivian - Generally underwhelming experience

Can confirm. Rear motor stays engaged while towing. Not sure if it's a stability thing, or a tire wear thing, or a rear clutch disconnect protection thing. I'm guessing it's to protect the rear drive clutch under heavy load, but that's just a guess on my part.
  5. No heat while driving, heat while sitting - G1 R1T

I see what you did there :D Love it! This was sitting in the parking lot after driving in. Ambient temps were below 15 in both pictures. Auto set to OFF. All vents OFF except the two driver side dash vents. Recirc ON. Sync ON. Rear vents (floor and console OFF). Fan set to HIGH (7). Temp set...
  6. No heat while driving, heat while sitting - G1 R1T

SO, weather has finally turned cold for us here in Buffalo. It was 7deg when I left the house this morning, 9deg yesterday morning. Was a balmy 25deg when I left the ski slopes Sunday afternoon. The truck has decided that I don't need heat while driving. No idea what I've done, or if it's a...
  7. How to drive R1S Dual using Snow setting

I prefer the full time AWD. Dual motor "clunk" on engagement sucks. Snow mode keeps the rear drive unit engaged.
  8. Rivan is #1 brand for Owner Satisfaction in 2025 Consumer Reports survey (3rd straight year)

Same.....I have been cross shopping all kinds of things for months now. It's really hard to find a "good" competitor to the truck. I've had exceptionally great customer service.......each of the 11 times it's been in the shop for the first 14mo of ownership. When it's good, it's great. When...
  9. How to drive R1S Dual using Snow setting

I've been driving in "snow mode" for about 9 months now. The impact to range is pretty minimal as best I can tell. Might be a couple tenths of mi/kWh, but not enough to make the difference of more than a few miles. Even on long legs of a road trip. Gen 1 Dual Motor R1T for reference.
  10. Random Rivian Photos of the Day - Post Yours! 📸

Found another owner here in Buffalo. I swear there's like 4 of us in town.
  11. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

Couple notes above, don't completely agree with the analysis there. I tried to make them red for clarity but formatting doesn't seem to want to stick. SO.......what makes Rivian better. Versatility - I can rock crawl in the morning, then canyon carve back to the hotel, then road trip home...
  12. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

My buddy calls Tesla's "California Camrys" for this very reason.
  13. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

Now there's a hot take I can get behind.
  14. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

So, there's my point. You carry something as a backup due to trust issues. Except the Rivian makes you carry two things, and those two things only grant permission to unlock not a means to actually physically unlock. Hell, my wifes Nissan Rogue has a fob with a built in key. battery dies in the...
  15. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

There, fixed that for ya. Rivians QC is crap too, just so we're clear. But a single persons experience does not a data set make.
  16. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

When, for any vehicle, have you not trusted the primary method of permission to acces so badly that you carry a spare around at all times? I feel that speaks volumes in itself. You trust it so much that you carry a secondary form of permission (not access). Also, PaaK doesn't work for me on a...
  17. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

Mine is always this way. I use the fob exclusively. If the truck is asleep I just plan on it not working. Often times I stand around tapping the truck with the fob after repeatedly pressing the unlock button. Even the key card is slow to react if the truck happens to be asleep. Rivian physical...
  18. How big of a deal is “clunking” as R1S dual motors engage/disengage?

Interestingly enough. I just did a 1k mile road trip over Turkey Day weekend. Didn't hear or notice it once. Also had the 12V replaced (for the 3rd time in 14mo) about 2 weeks prior. Wonder if the actuator on the drive unit runs off the 12V system? Also, had the "ting washers" replaced on all...
