For sure, and maybe itâs because I am someone who values the meaning of words and systems really highly, it just doesnât seem very automatic to meâ maybe each level has a range of auto? Itâs totally fine I leave it on medium like everything else in this truck (except regen of course).I think this is just kowtowing to the people who complained about a "jet engine" sound from the AC. It you want to cool down fast, you set the fan to max. That's what I've done with every car I've ever owned. But with those other vehicles, I adjusted the speed manually, and with my R1T the speed adjusted itself. I thought this was a big improvement. Either way, it was loud for an initial period until the temperature dropped.
But now Rivian is giving you a choice to control the fan speed rather than let the vehicle do what it thinks is best to get it to your set temperature. This is a way to placate the complainers, but it does nothing to improve the performance.
Whatâs worse, the complainers or the people who complain that people complain? ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻWell then.....time to start complaining, whining, throwing fits and acting entitled....that we want automatic HVAC back.
I wrote my reply in jest.....I actually find all those words very confrontational and amazed how so many jump to using them on here.......Whatâs worse, the complainers or the people who complain that people complain? ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Clearly you are not understanding. Everyone is on the trial so there is literally no way to prioritize until the trial is over and some decide to pay to keep Connect+ while others opt outâŠ.how do you suggest prioritizing if every owner is currently on connect+ during the brief trial period?Don't care about the trial if it doesn't do what they say it does.
My understanding is the air temp adjusts, not the fan speed. Other vehicles have similar systems, you essentially pick how aggressively you want the system to reach the specified temp.Iâm confused by this âautoâ for the AC. Before Iâd set it to auto and it was cool down the car, automatically choosing the fan speed, and adjusting the fan speed, automatically. That was good logic. Now itâs just like the regular AC but with less fan speed options? Iâm confusedâŠ. ?
I just got the update a few hours ago, so I havenât had a chance to play around with it yet. My guess is that this is to give an option to tone back the jet engine vibes a touch on hot days when waking up. My hope is that it basically just gives the option to impose a fan speed ceiling, but that everything else is still the same. For sure, and maybe itâs because I am someone who values the meaning of words and systems really highly, it just doesnât seem very automatic to meâ maybe each level has a range of auto? This is how it should work.....crossing my fingers that is the case!I just got the update a few hours ago, so I havenât had a chance to play around with it yet. Basically my hope (and best guess at the moment, without playing around with the new settings) is that if you set it to High, it will perform exactly as it always has (blow as hard as it needs to for fastest cooling/heating, then ramp down as the thermostat approaches set point). Low and Medium would then just limit how fast the fan speed can run (and limit speed of cooling/heating accordingly). If it isnât that, then theyâve really mucked things up⊠in other words, if high stays on high fan speed even as the temp gets to set point, blowing more air at you of desired temp, then they basically gutted the auto feature⊠Iâll find out tomorrow at some point.
Itâs been 100 degrees today and I almost exclusively park in the sun lol so Iâve had it on high and havenât notice it decrease. Time will tell! I was a huge fan of auto as it was once I understood it. This is not a deal breaker at all of course but def feels like a lot of consumer complaints come from folks who want their rivian to behave as theyâre used to other cars behaving rather than potentially better, even if it takes some getting used to.I just got the update a few hours ago, so I havenât had a chance to play around with it yet. Uh-oh⊠now you have my pitchfork hand feeling itchy⊠I sure hope they didnât screw with auto, which I agree is (was?! ?) excellent. But maybe I misunderstood your post. Are you saying you didnât notice a dip in fan speed that you normally would have pre-update? Or are you saying that you were in conditions hot enough that to keep your vehicle cool it would have needed to be maxed out all the time to keep up?Itâs been 100 degrees today and I almost exclusively park in the sun lol so Iâve had it on high and havenât notice it decrease. Sure, it would blow hard/loudly to start, and then settle down and just keep your set temp where it should be (when working properly, which was certainly an issue with some early VIN R1s, whether due to improper coolant charge, other mechanical problems, and/or software issues). I really hope they didnât mess with the ability for Auto to choose anywhere from max fan to a ramp down to minimal fan speed as needed to keep set point. Otherwise, whatâs the point of an auto setting in the first place? ??they didnât fuck this up ?
Ooof, I hope it was just really really hot! Iâll have perfect conditions tomorrow. Our morning temps have been in the 40°s lately, with mid day full sun temps in the mid 70°s (but bluebird, so decent levels of AC needed to cool the cabin down from sleeping). Iâll report back with my own experience!Yesterdayâ set to auto and fan decreases
Todayâ set to auto high or med and fan doesnât decrease⊠yet. My driving conditions today were extreme though so itâs possible the cabin temp was just too dang hot! (It was)
