Ooof, I hope it was just really really hot! I’ll have perfect conditions tomorrow. Our morning temps have been in the 40°s lately, with mid day full sun temps in the mid 70°s (but bluebird, so decent levels of AC needed to cool the cabin down from sleeping). I’ll report back with my own experience!
I just noticed that too... the "slow" setting in Auto is like my normal high when it's 100 degrees out. Granted, it is like 85 - 90 at 8:35 pm here in socal.

Lemme guess; you think your data connection will somehow persist even after Connect+ trials end?
No, I don't want the increased phantom drain and nothing else got me excited about this update.
Though .31 adds three fan modes to the Auto HVAC so that may get me excited.

I got it earlier today and was all excited once I pulled into my garage to see the ambient lightning I had selected.

I’m going out for a night cruise right now to surprise my wife. Thanks Rivian for most recent update.

Basically my hope (and best guess at the moment, without playing around with the new settings) is that if you set it to High, it will perform exactly as it always has (blow as hard as it needs to for fastest cooling/heating, then ramp down as the thermostat approaches set point). Low and Medium would then just limit how fast the fan speed can run (and limit speed of cooling/heating accordingly). If it isn’t that, then they’ve really mucked things up… in other words, if high stays on high fan speed even as the temp gets to set point, blowing more air at you (of desired temp), then they would have effectively turned auto into another manual mode… I’ll find out tomorrow at some point (and keep my pitchfork stowed, assuming they did something sensible)
If I was programming it, high would obligate faster than necessary air speeds even once cabin is close/at temp. Medium would be like it is now, and Low would obligate slower speeds when the cabin is still way far from the desired temperatures.

That’s not a bad idea. Either way, I just wish they’d detailed what they did in the release notes rather than leave us all guessing and speculating ?

I'm sure that 2024.31.01 fixes all of the parasitic drain issues that 2024.27.01 introduced . . .

…maybe each level has a range of auto? It’s totally fine I leave it on medium like everything else in this truck (except regen of course)…
I think this is it. “High” is higher than normal but still has a range. Sitting parked, I noticed a fan speed increase and that was after auto high had been on for over a half hour. Auto is still moving fan speeds up/down automatically just with a user controlled baseline. I think.

Also, thanks, Rivian, for continuing to improve my truck!

I wonder who wants a fan speed higher than what it needs to be to maintain temp in cabin?
