Rivian’s 2025.22 update is currently in early testing with employees and is shaping up to be a solid quality-of-life release. While it doesn’t introduce major new features, it brings a bunch of meaningful improvements across both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles.

Driver Assistance with Hitch Accessories

You’ll now be able to keep Driver Assistance features active when you have an electrical accessory (like a bike rack with lights) plugged into the tow hitch. Just head to Drive Modes > Trailers and select “Accessory.” This doesn’t apply to full trailers, so make sure to pick the right setting.

Smoother Ride in All Drive Modes

Rivian has continued tuning suspension across the board. You’ll feel better roll support and agility, improved body control in All-Purpose mode, and a more comfortable ride even in Sport mode’s low height. Rock Crawl, Rally, and Drift get updates too.

Gen 2-Specific Enhancements

Smarter Go Chime: It now only chimes if the car ahead moves and you’re not paying attention. Driver Attention Tweaks: When stopped in ACC or Highway Assist, the vehicle will stay engaged longer if you’re clearly looking at the road. Better climate cooldown: Cabin comfort in hot weather gets a noticeable bump.

Fixes and Small Wins

Proximity unlock now works faster with iPhone 14 Infotainment and charging stability continue to improve Energy Monitor bugs have been cleaned up High Beam Assist is now more clearly labeled as “Adaptive” and no longer offers the confusing “Standard” option

2025.22 is still in internal testing, but if all goes well, we expect a wider rollout in the coming weeks.

Very nice. While the Driver Assistance with Hitch Accessories doesn’t affect me, I know this is a big deal for a lot of folks on the forum! Kudos to Rivian for continuing to listen to owner feedback.

The better cooldown is well-timed, and the ongoing suspension improvements have made significant differences over the years so I’m looking forward to experiencing the latest.

Hopefully the proximity unlock improves for all phones. I have apple and when it went in for the current sensor issue I had them check that. The report says it is a known issue and an OTA is supposed to fix. I wonder if the headlight fix means they will start the recalls, or if this fixes that problem. Mine is on the recall list.

Here's to hoping we can still disable driver assistance stuff by f'ing with the wiring. My opinion on these systems was reaffirmed yesterday when the car tried to kill me. I was driving in a carpool lane with driver + that was right against the center barrier and when there was a bump out for a bridge pier and a turn it nearly flung me into the next lane of traffic. I'm sure the cars behind and to the side weren't amused with the wrestling match and the swerving car as I tried to regain control. That was enough of that.

This exact thing happened to me very early on when I tried driver assistance and I haven’t used it since. This experience did it for me. 🥺

I'm glad to hear more suspension tweaks and better AC performance. I just had mine in for a week to investigate (as it started to not cool well two updates ago) and the SC response was they've captured this issue and will be addressing it in an OTA update soon.

Looking forward to better ride in sport mode! I feel like they just about nailed it in all purpose. Bordering on too comfortable now lol

I will say overall through OTA updates, the ride has gone from decent to just about the best of any vehicle I've ever owned.

Just one more reason for me to never trust these “self driving” systems. As far as I’m concerned, all of them are still in beta testing.

If you hate HWA so much why were you using it? It's always been optional, you don't have to "disable" it, you have to explicitly turn it on if you want it.

I was wondering about my iPhone 14….. This is good.
Has this been a known issue with iPhone 14s? Proximity locking and unlocking was getting really good until like 5-6 months ago when it went totally sideways and became terribly unreliable. It sounds like this might be an issue specific to our phone models though?

I wouldn't use Driver+ *at high speeds* when there's no room for error. I don''t suggest using it when you're sandwiched in tight lane situations of any kind at high speeds (heavy traffic w. windy roads, barrier wall with no shoulder, etc.). It is possible for it to slip out of the lane briefly.
