Probably been discussed to death but thought I would post the overall battery drain for our 2 week vacation. We left our new R1S Trimax in the garage while gone with nobody walking by for 2 weeks. The temps here in Oregon dropped into the low 30's but otherwise it just sat there. We lost more than 25% on a nearly full (80%) charge. I expected some but this seems excessive. Any similar experiences?

Seems excessive. Leave something on? Door ajor? seat belt plugged in?

Far worse than my Gen1 truck and Gen2's are supposed to be better. Likely you have an issue. I am at about 1% or less per day with my 2023 R1T quad.

I've noticed that vampire drain in our Gen2 Trimax is highly temperature-dependent. While it was stored in a warehouse (~65°f) for three weeks during PPF application, it only lost about 0.5% per day. However, when parked outside in 20°F-40°f weather, the drain increased to 1-3% per day, despite significantly less Gear Guard activity.

Only responding because I’m also in Oregon (Portland metro area) - mine is parked outside and I’m getting about that much and maybe a little more. Around 4-7% per day. It’s been like that all 3 winters I’ve had it though, so I don’t think it’s gonna change. Summer has pretty minimal drain per day of like 1-2% per day.

It's crazy that Rivain can't figure this out. Our Ioniq 5 gets left at home a lot, sometimes as long as a month unplugged. After about 2 days it goes into a deep sleep mode and doesn't drain at all. Of course it has crappy software and no fun features.

Have you had it checked? I live in Colorado and much colder than Oregon. I park my truck outside all winter and still only see 1%-2% a day even when it's near 0F out. 4-7% sounds like something isn't turning off like having a seat belt buckled.

I wish it was something that simple, but nah, nothing obvious. I have my first service set up for Tuesday - I only have 12,000 miles - so I’ll mention it to them. Since I’m not having much vampire drain in the summer, I figure it just is what it is.

It’s still much better than driving an ICE half ton, so I’ve just looked at it as part of the tradeoff.

100% my experience as well. The Ioniq 5 battery management system is rock solid.

I've seen up to 1%/hour when temps drop below zero on my 2025 R1T Max pack with everything closed down (even the app on my phone). Crickets from service for a ticket filed in early December. Makes it so I can't adventure very far from a fast charger with much confidence in the winter. I also have no issues with my Ioniq 5 - I can leave it for a week in very cold weather and only lose 1%. Same for my Sierra EV - virtually no vampire drain. My brother has a Mach-e, and he doesn't notice any significant drain in the cold. Disappointing that Rivian can't or doesn't want to bother to figure it out.

I still say there is something either on or wrong. It's not sleeping. That's over 20% a day, I get max 2% a day when below 0F on my gen 1

Very interesting as one of the advantages of the 2025 model was to virtually eliminate vampire drain

One thing to remember with vehicles like the ioniq is that it acts like an ice vehicle when you turn it off, it turns into a brick. Near dead. No gear guard, no downloading updates, no live camera view from the app, etc etc. So it's a little like comparing apples to oranges.

1 - 2% per day is very normal for large/max pack with gear guard on based on what I've seen with my vehicle. (Seems consistent with what I've heard from gen 1 owners too). And that's what the OP experienced. 1-2%/day over 2 weeks would get you 25% drain. This is why it's generally recommended when you leave for a long time to leave it plugged in with a 50% limit

Unfortunately that promise/directive did not come from Rivian, it came from grieving Gen1 owners and others hoping it was going to be a priority. And if Wassym said it, you need to take that with a grain of salt because he's said many things (like simple 2010 era texting) are coming which have still not materialized 3.5 years into production.
