Not every place that supposedly is trained to work on Rivian’s actually can do so. Even places with Tesla pucks may not use them properly on a Rivian. Just buy a set of jack pucks and make them available whenever the vehicle needs to be lifted. It will save you a headache.
I always have a set of pucks in my truck just in case, but also Discount Tire is theoretically an officially approved tire service location for Rivian, so the odds of them being prepared and knowledgable is better than most.
But with most things, YMMV and Always Be Prepared.

I got my R1 T just about a month ago with 22 inch sport Perelli‘s and have been dreading the time when I have to replace them. I am wondering what everyone’s experience is with having someone besides the Rivian service center replace the tires because I understand you either need to have a special puck to lift the truck or have the installer remove the under body panels in order to lift the truck without damaging those panels. Do these non-OEM service centers know how to lift the truck safely, do they have the pucks?
The Salem, OR Costco knows how to install tires on Rivian vehicles. They did a fine job on my R1T earlier this year when I had the Michelin Defenders installed.

I had to replace all tires on both the R1S and Model Y at the same time, so I went with a more economical and less typical choice, Nokian One HT. I was warned they would be a bit noisier. They are slightly more noisy than the OEM tires. However, at half the price, they are not twice as noisy as the Pirellis. I just finished a 2,000 mile trip on them. I am noticing the sidewalls are brown, but I’m not sure if this is brake dust or tire bloom.

Just got these installed on mine today as well (at Costco)

My local Costco (Columbia, MD) refused to buy and install the Michelin 115H because they said my car needed 116H. Surprised that the Virginia Costco didnt have the same rule. I had a local tire place install the tire (which I bought through TireRack) but would have preferred Costco for the benefits that come with their tire packages

Brown? I just got the Nokian Ones as well and agree they are slightly noisier than the Pirellis. I only have 60 miles on them so far but they feel like there's an efficiency hit too. I'm going on an approximately 2000 mile trip starting tomorrow so I guess I'll see soon enough.

Which is complete bullshit because Costco lists the Michelin 115H tires as compatible with the R1T. If I could order them online, they should have no problem with installing them.

Right before you order online with Costco there’s a disclaimer you must click through which states you acknowledge that the tires meet the same oem specifications including load and speed rating. Technically S and T rated tires don’t meet specs but the Rivian’s are speed limited anyways.

if you're not towing or carrying extremely heavy payload, I can also recommend the Continental Terrain Contact HT. I've been much happier with that than with the OE Pirelli. I had to replace my original tires at just over 10k miles. Part of that was the factory alignment was pretty far out of whack (a seemingly common problem). Even though the tread wear was pretty even across the tread, the toe was so far off it massively accelerated the tire wear. Whatever tire you get, I would highly recommend getting an alignment as well.
Who would you recommend to do the alignment?

Quick update: 600 miles in to the Nokian Ones and they seem to be giving me a bit of a range hit, but handle well. I drove up a mountain road I’ve done 20 times in the Pirellis and the Nokians handled it no problem, maybe even better.

Mind sharing which local tire place you went to and how was it?

Personally, I have experienced TWO Pirelli defective tires on my Rivian, one OEM and one a replacement. Traditionally I’ve run Michelin and some Goodyear on other vehicles, and never had a defective tire. I won’t be putting Pirellis back on.

Hey there, just wondering if you could share any more impressions of the Nokian One HTs you have. I am considering them to replace my stock Pirellis and would love to hear more in terms of road noise, tread wear, and even overall look. Are you glad you got them? Thanks!
