So, I was going to tow my trailers over 100 miles, therefore I decided to charge the truck 100%. I went to pick up the trailer (yes, I know that form the first 5% breaking is diminished), once I plug it in, the truck speed limit was 6 mph. I plugged and unplugged a couple of times, with the same result. So, I unplugged and drove the trailer home from the storage (yes, I know it has not lights or brakes, but i didn't have a choice). Once at home, 10 min later, I plugged and everything was fine. I assumed it was due to truck being charge at a 100%.
4 Days later, I needed to take the trailer (6,000 lbs.) from home to storage. Leaving my street, I got the same error (6mph speed limit) while the truck battery was a 55%. I pulled over, soft reset the truck, without any result. Please with the trailer plug twice and nothing. Finally, frustrated, I unplug the trailer and TRY to drive away, but the 6 mph speed limit still there. I did try to place it on park and drive again. Same result. Then, I placed on "Conserve" and the speed limit when away. I put it on drive and it was fine. Finally, I plug the trailer, and I was able to dry on my merry way.
What give? What did i do wrong? Is there a process I need to follow when towing? (i did play with the overwrite trailer brakes to see if that fixes the issue)
