So, I was going to tow my trailers over 100 miles, therefore I decided to charge the truck 100%. I went to pick up the trailer (yes, I know that form the first 5% breaking is diminished), once I plug it in, the truck speed limit was 6 mph. I plugged and unplugged a couple of times, with the same result. So, I unplugged and drove the trailer home from the storage (yes, I know it has not lights or brakes, but i didn't have a choice). Once at home, 10 min later, I plugged and everything was fine. I assumed it was due to truck being charge at a 100%.

4 Days later, I needed to take the trailer (6,000 lbs.) from home to storage. Leaving my street, I got the same error (6mph speed limit) while the truck battery was a 55%. I pulled over, soft reset the truck, without any result. Please with the trailer plug twice and nothing. Finally, frustrated, I unplug the trailer and TRY to drive away, but the 6 mph speed limit still there. I did try to place it on park and drive again. Same result. Then, I placed on "Conserve" and the speed limit when away. I put it on drive and it was fine. Finally, I plug the trailer, and I was able to dry on my merry way.

What give? What did i do wrong? Is there a process I need to follow when towing? (i did play with the overwrite trailer brakes to see if that fixes the issue)

Well exactly what did the error message say? It didn't just limit you to 6mph without saying something ...

Odd. Did you call/report this?

So far I have towed only one of my trailers. It has electric brakes. I played around with the gain settings, manually used the brake, etc. and didn’t have any issues.

on the left screen, right above the speedo, says "6 MPH Speed limit"

This was yesterday. No, I have not reported yet. I figure with so many members on this forum, someone might have the same experience, or I am missing a step.

That's strange - the only time I've seen a speed limited message was after I used the auto-level feature. Then when I try to drive the vehicle it tells me that my speed is limited while the suspension is readjusting. I think it limits the speed to 8mph. This may be something similar - when hooking up your trailer your vehicle will adjust the suspension to level you out. If you have a leak or other problem with your suspension then maybe that process isn't completing. Can you successfully switch to High or Highest suspension setting (without a trailer) and drive off without the speed being limited?

Also, did your trailer profile correctly read the weight of your trailer? Perhaps it's still working on sensing the weight and limiting your speed because of that.

Yes, I can go from the highest to the lowest setting.
I will play with the suspension height next time with the trailer attached.
Yes, the truck can determine the trailer weight, but it does take about 10 to 15 minutes of driving.

What is the tongue weight? A properly configured and loaded trailer would be around 10%-15% on the tongue which would be within the vehicles operating range, but not every trailer is loaded properly. If your trailer had 20% on the tongue, that would put you over the vehicle's max capacity.

My guess is that you are triggering a low suspension height sensor, either because the air suspension is failing, or the tongue weight is too much. So the first thing I would do to troubleshoot is measure the tongue weight. If you have a bunch of other cargo in the bed I would weigh that too.

Also, are you using a weight distribution hitch? If not, 6000 lbs is over the max rating for the vehicle.

I have had the same weird experience while towing a 7,000 trailer (using a WD hitch and the 2023.38 update). Everything was just fine but then I pressed the accelerator after a stop and realized I had even "floored it" but was only creeping at 6 MPH. I pulled over out of the way of traffic to figure out what was happening. No error messages were observed. I put it in Park and then back to Drive a couple of times and tried accelerating again. Everything was, and still is, working fine now. I DUNNO??? I guess maybe it was the .38 software version because I also experienced other issues (touch screen, phone-key recognition, etc.). VERY glad to get the new update.

Are you trying to drive it in HIGHEST suspension? Are you able to take a photo of the dash when it displays the message, and the vehicles drive mode screen on the infotainment? That would help.

i didn’t take a pic this time. Next trip is on New Year. I’ll make sure I do.
As far as the high, I was on auto.

Haven't seen anything like that so far with our setup. Feels like the computer owes you an explanation to me. Could be some kind of a wiring issue or faulty pins in the cable? I'd give everything hanging out a once-over.

I have had the same weird experience while towing a 7,000 trailer (using a WD hitch and the 2023.38 update). I pulled my 7000 pound boat trailer (standard hitch, not WD) a couple of times on the .38 software with no issues. The boat does use a 7 to 5 wiring converter because that’s the way boat trailers work with surge brakes. I have a camper that weighs about 2500 that uses the 7 pin, but not since .38. Have not towed with .42.1 yet. I’ll be interested to learn what’s going on here…
