Taken today, 10/6/2023 from Rivian's web site. My family and I are fans of beaches and the adventuring things you can do in coastal areas. But it seems there are no current, or planned, RAN locations in any coastal parts of the Central and Eastern parts of the United States. Anyone else find this curious?

Sloppy red highlighting is mine. I guess it's Savannah GA to charge or...nowhere.

Maybe it's because high voltage/high current don't mix well with salt water

Just kidding...

I agree completely. We make the drive from Texas across the Gulf coast several times a year. Pretty sparse.

Apparently, if you buy a Rivian, you MUST visit the Michigan beaches and only the Michigan beaches. Or you're not going back home!

Which begs the question why does Rivian hate those of us in the Northeast, Mid-atlantic, southeast and south-central coastal regions of the US?

I'm still wondering why they seemed to have skipped the I-95 corridor for the most part with the exception of Belcamp, MD which isn't open yet. They have one in Newark, DE, and Pooler, GA.

This is a highly traveled route and should be getting more attention. Yes other charging vendors exist but I have been burned by EA a couple times now (Richmond, VA and Newport News, VA). It has made my wife question purchasing the R1S and debate on if we should leave it at home for long trips!

Good to see some beach build-outs!

So I guess it's just us in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coasts who are still waiting.

This is where the Supercharger network really crushes it. Plenty of options all up and down major highways, esp. I95. We drove from central NJ to MD just outside DC last year for Thanksgiving weekend in a Model X. First EV road trip so was a bit worried about number of chargers and crowding but it couldn't have been easier. Plenty of available locations and none were even full (some close) and no lines.

I would NOT make that same trip relying solely on EA. The EA locations I've seen usually only have 4 stalls with some version of: 2 disabled/broken, 1 blocked by someone parked for hours and 1 de-rated to 1/2 or 1/3 speed with 3-5 cars in queue.

Yeah, good thing you are not dependent on RAN for travel lol!
