More moving things are more broken things. There's a reason I turned off auto-fold, especially in winter.
I love driving off and discovering my passenger mirror is frozen solid in the folded position.

  • Towing a trailer. This needs to be addressed. I tow a 10k trailer. It weighs more than the truck. When regen braking comes on the truck needs to send power to my trailer brakes, otherwise when it is wet/slippery the trailer will push the truck around and jackknife the trailer…. I don’t want to be fidgeting around to push some button to activate my trailer brakes… it has to be autonomous. I’m posting this on the forum to put it out there. It is a liability for Rivian that should be a priority to fix
I don't think you need to hit the button. It definitely activates with the normal brake pedal, same as you'd expect from an ICE vehicle. I'll be honest that I'm not 100% sure if it'll activate the trailer brakes during regen though, but I've never noticed or felt our 5000 lbs trailer pushing the R1T or R1S around under full regen, even on somewhat slippery roads.

The manual doesn't say anything about it either way, only this stuff below. You've been towing for a long time so you know how to set the gain to the proper level.

yea, I read that. Thank you. In my other trucks my goal is actually to never or at best seldom hit the brakes.. Always leave room, etc. But, in my ICE trucks, you need to hit the brakes to slow down sometimes... Just like in the R1T I need to take my foot off the pedal all the way. When I do that it initiates rather aggressive braking with the regen. Which I really like! What I would like to see happen is the trailer brakes automatically get some power to activate them when aggressive brake regen is used.

The camp speaker is useless. Mine sits on a shelf in my office. In the truck it beeps all day long. How do you shut the thing up when it is in the truck???
Camp speaker needs to be reset. Hold the connect button down for 30 seconds. It's the button that's two links together. If you have no desire or need to use it, just leave it on your shelf.

Also, I don't want to enable Alexa. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't want Amazon recording everything I say in the car.
But you're not one of those weirdos that thinks they are doing it anyway? ;)

When you’re in tow mode, have you adjusted your trailer brake gain? I have mine set at 4 for a 7000# trailer. Your trailer should not be pushing you around.
yes, absolutely. Unless you hit the brake pedal it does not engage the trailer brakes. I don't hit the brakes unless I really have to.

I know the time and temperature on the other screen are annoying. The good thing is, it can be fixed/updated with a software update.

My annoyance is the Spotify application. My wife and I have 100% opposite tastes in music. I am a metal, classic rock person and she is a mellow music person. It would be nice to have the Spotify account attached to the PaaK so that when I get in I don't have to log her out (or she logs me out) and then log back in.

Speaking of Spotify, I would love to have the "play" screen that is on the passenger side be able to move it to the driver's side. I am a big guy....6'2" and I have to lean over if I have the MAP displayed and I want to forward through commercials or pause it.
One day we played Spanish music. For weeks after, we got all our commercials in Spanish.

I? actually want to use the camp speaker. I view it as a $100k stereo... that is mono... I've reset it many times. It is fine for a while, then within a week it's beeping and making random noises while in the truck. It needs fixing.

Which means taking it to the service center so they can properly diagnose the problem while its happening, and initiate a repair order based on those findings..

I realize you think a 45 minute drive is "out of your way", and inconvenient,, but this is what you bought into. If you cant survive a 45 minute drive to get your 2 issues fixed, whats going to happen when you HAVE to take it in to get it repaired?

Sometimes my wife and I will talk out loud on things we would never be interested in at all.....about a day or 2 later, our email and FB start sending ads.

We’ve had our R1T now for seven months now and have driven it about 6k miles. Here are some thoughts.
  • The seats are comfortable!
  • The quad pack motors are unbelievable, even when towing a 10k trailer.
  • The handling and acceleration are amazing.
  • We love the regen braking.
What needs improvement… RJ, please feel free to copy other manufacturers with some of their ideas!

  • The camp speaker is useless. Mine sits on a shelf in my office. In the truck it beeps all day long. How do you shut the thing up when it is in the truck???
  • The proximity locking at home does not work. I don’t want it to lock the truck at home in a locked garage. You can set that feature, and it works for a day or two, then resorts back to locking and unlocking when it feels like it. How hard can this be to fix??? Yes, I've complained about this. No, I'm not driving an hour away for someone to "look at a module". The map correctly shows where the truck is, down to the parking bay...
  • Please copy BMW and adjust the right mirror toward the ground when in reverse. Sure, with all these cameras you don’t need that, but when the sun is behind you can’t see the screens because of the glare. And copy Elon WRT turning on left or right cameras if by any chance you ever decide to use your left or right turn signal.
  • Put the clock and outside air temp in front of ME, not the passenger. The clock is so small you have to turn your head and refocus your eyes to see it. Not everyone who has a Rivian is under 40. Or 50. Or 60…. See attached picture of a proper instrument display. Notice the clock and temp....
  • Allow us to use Waze or Google maps. PLEASE. I’ll pay for that privilege.
It is a liability for Rivian that should be a priority to fix.
Thanks for listening to my rant!!

Just curious how you are going to get the camp speaker "fixed" if you refuse to take the R1T to a service center to get it "fixed".
And how is it a liability for Rivian that you don't want to operate the brakes on your trailer even though you've the means to do so?
You say the seats are "terrible". I can only say that mine are quite comfortable after over 7,000 miles in three months of ownership. But my comfort doesn't have to be yours. But, did you never sit in a Rivian before you made your purchase?
