Any one regretted the R1S based on size?

I fear that an R2 will be too short to both sleep in and fit at least one larger bike inside. It would be ideal to fit inside 2 to 4 bikes without having to lower the saddles which would mean 6+ feet of flat cargo space that is ~44" tall inside. I don't think an R2 will be long or tall enough to accommodate this, so hence why I say a "shortened" R1S without the third row--a "third-row-less". As many have said, the third row really isn't functional except for small people so for most who seem to have R1S's, completely useless. Rivian like many other auto manufacturers needs to focus on actual use not some specification and excessively adhere to customer wants not their designers' specs in order to progress forward from the mundane repeating designs that don't meet most customer's actual use or else compete with nearly every other similar vehicle on the market.
The R1 is not tall enough to get bikes in the back with the seats on. I have to lay my bike down when I put it in the R1S.

Get an R1T. It's cheaper than an R1S and the bed allows for more versatility for your outdoor adventures. Mine fits in my small garage, but measure first if that's an issue.

I'd look for a gently used 2022 R1T with Meridian sound :)
The T is gorgeous but lacks the covered interior space and is even longer. Neither will fit in our garage tho.

I don’t really need to sleep in it as we have a vintage motorhome we use for actual camping but the space to haul stuff to the camper is what I like about my element. Now having the ability to sleep one night on a road trip is kinda cool. I’d also see us continuing to put the bikes on our 1Up rack

As you say R2 is considerably smaller, 15 inches shorted and 7 inches narrower.

R2
75 inches wide
185.6 inches long
66.9 inches high

R1S
82 inches wide
200.8 inches long
77.3 inches high
And coming from my 170 inch long Honda element the R1s is 30 inches larger and about 10 inches wider. The element really packs in amazing cargo for its size. I just wish the r2 was here already to really compare

No, I wish it were larger. My R1T handles much better with the longer wheelbase.

I didn't buy S because it was too small. I would have bought it if it was the same size as my T.

Consider using Turo to rent an R1S for a few days so you can really live with it. I think this is the surest way to know if it is simply too large for your life.

We are considering the R1S but it’s much larger than our current small suv. (We also have a reservation on a R2 but I imagine it will be two years before it’s in Canada). Anyone find their R1s is too large? There is just two of us but we bike, hike, camp etc
What’s the constraint you’re solving for? Garage space? Ease of parking? Energy efficiency? Sporty handling? Cost?

Parking for sure and getting used to driving something so large. The price as well compared to the r2

Better not to buy an $80k car unless you have lots of money laying around.

We traded in an Ascent to the R1S. It doesn't drive or park like it's as big as it's metrics (the video game style 360 parking is very cool and steering is great) and it's been wonderful for road trips with the kids and extended family when we have folks visit.

Only drawbacks:

1) My wife finds the size intimidating to drive (I think more from not doing it than based on the experience, but I always want to drive so she hasnt really had as much exposure)

2) If I am driving in a congested area where we need to street park its obvi harder to find spots than with a shorter car

3) While its pretty easy to park, my bigger fear is that someone is going to ding the car carelessly when they park next to it and get out. (This is actually the way that the car's size most worries me)

The stormtrooper helmet? I 3D modeled that helmet, check out the process here:
No, the stormtrooper is great. It's...the other thing you intentionally added to it :CWL:

We've had our R1S for about fourteen months. There was an initial period of adjustment to the size, but within a few weeks we were at ease with it. Primarily it's just my wife and I, but we've really benefited from the three row seating at larger family gatherings. We like the large cargo area, and the car fits quite nicely in our garage.
I think you're do well with the R1S, especially with your outdoor activities.
