I'll turn gear guard full off and see if the cameras are still actively powered. The 120 V system was off so that shouldn't be drawing any power. Curious if anybody knows what sits in that particular spot.

My guess would be the motor and
hardware for the powered tonneau cover

If anyone is taking a trip without their truck, would interesting to see if subsequent days are less. I know my Tesla can lose 1 to 3 miles the first 24 hours but over 4 days it is usually less than 5 miles.

It seems like after the first 24 hours it does some sort of hibernate. Worth noting it is a 2016 so there is no Sentry mode and it does not have air suspension. I usually do not check it remotely with the app when gone. It also sits in a garage in SoCal not far from the beach so very moderate temperatures all year long.

Nice to have a physical off button that takes power away from everything non vital and a sleep mode that can be selected manually and on the settings so owner can chose it as default if they are driving the car once a week.

Left my truck in the garage April 12 @ 92% and 260 miles. It’s been 10 days and the truck is now 56% and 160 miles.

This is the only real issue I've had concerns with before my truck arrives. This is BIG, and needs to be a top priority at Rivian to get resolved.

As someone who travels, this is majorly concerning.

And while I'm home, I'm wondering how much electricity the truck will be using constantly from just sitting there not being driven while plugged in.

Couple kWh/da adding 25 -50¢ per day to your electric bill ($200yr).

Why wouldn’t this be a major concern for someone that flies often and needs to leave their truck at the airport? About a 40% loss in 10 days is a HUGE issue. That would mean some people may not be making it home when they get back from a flight.

Who would leave his truck at the airport for 10 days? Yes, there will be special cases where it will be a problem but for most it will not. Not much can be done about it in any event.

?? This is quite common for me and a number of people I know.
I have traveled on business or for vacation for 10+ days many times. Sometimes due diligence projects have me at a remote office/location for even longer than 10 days.

Depending on your state of charge when you parked at the airport and distance from home when you return (to you car), you may find an unexpected surprise regarding your need to stop and charge your car before finally getting home (many other worse case scenarios can be applied).

Regardless of the scenario that affects you, I would hope reasonable people can agree that it is extremely inefficient for a parked car to drain this much power and Rivian needs to optimize/improve (reduce) battery drain.

Let's hang up the pitchforks until someone tests the Vehicle Shipping setting. I should be able to do that tonight through tomorrow evening.

Thats not acceptable.

It's a huge problem. Just say you want to go off the beaten track camping for a week plus and a person ends up loosing miles a day when not driving getting back out is a big deal.

I bet Rivian can significantly improve vampire drain. Early on Tesla S were using ~15 miles a day, and they made multiple improvements, eventually there was even an option where you can say don't wake up so much.

Well it may not be acceptable in which case your recourse is to cancel your order because that's the way it is. A phantom drain of 2.4 kWh/da is only 100W and that's really not much to keep something of the complexity of an R1T dormant but alive.

Then you had better be prepared to deal with it or refrain from making such trips. One way to deal with it is to tote along batteries and solar panels sufficient to harvest a couple kWh/da from the sun. A Yeti6000 holds 6 kWh and can be recharged with solar panels but keep in mind that a 100W panel will probably only produce 600Wh/da in the summer in a sunny location. Another solution is to carry a generator and another is to camp close to a RAN or other charging station.

You are now relying on a battery fueled transportation system. The Fueling Segment rerpresets a paradigm shift away from what you are used to. Vampire drain is an important aspect of this. You will have to plan for it just as you have to plan around charging station sparsity. It occurs to me that this may be what the RAN is really for. We may have never thought about it before but Rivian has. They already know that you can't drive 100 mi past the last charger out into the wilderness (over trails where consumption is likely to be > 650 Wh/mi), park for 10 days and get back.
