Just installed these tie-downs from Inregral. I used the stock anchor point in the bed but would like to add another bolt. Ideally with a nut-sert Has anyone had the inner plastic panel removed to see if there any good anchor points I can drill and tap? Any pics would be much appreciated.

I actually looked into this recently because I’m going to do the same thing (riv nuts in metal with some larger punched holes in the liner nut so I don’t have to take the liner out to install, and allow for the liner to be easily removed at a later date if need be). I am planning to mount an air tank so I can have compressed air.

I’ll be putting four right here to mount an aluminum plat that will hold the 5 gallon air tank. This is basically the only spot I’ve seen that has sturdy metal close to/touching the plastic liner (at least in a place that will accommodate the fairly large air tank I’m going with). I’ve confirmed with magnets that it’s close to the liner. Now I’m just waiting for my truck to be back from the SC to do the thing.

I grabbed this screenshot from this video:

Depending on where you want the ratchet straps, this might help.

I got a cheap rivnut gun thing on Amazon (haven’t used yet), and this centering hole punch kit to punch holes in the liner: https://a.co/d/1gwHiSH

My plan is to punch the four holes I lay out with aluminum plate as my template with larger IDs than the ODs of the rivnuts, then drill holes into the metal and place the rivnuts, and then when I attach the plate, I’ll stand it off a bit with EPMD rubber to prevent water ingress and help reduce any unwanted NVH or vibration between the mount/tank and the liner since the tank will only be mounted in one narrow location with four bolts.

I made a similar setup at home with a very quiet compressor that has tiny capacity—this was basically a proof of concept and has worked well for mounting tubeless bike tires, dusting things off, etc. and is soooo much quieter than the pancake compressor I had before:

These ratchet straps look cool—nice and tidy. Do you have a link?

Also, I would be careful with how much you rely on those factory rivnuts (the ones with the little plastic caps used to fasten the liner). If you go with installing a larger diameter riv nut above the wheel arches, you may have a more secure tie down point.

I made a typo in my description. And yes, I was under the impression that the bolt secured into something stout based on how tight I was able to torque the bolt.
may be worth removing the liner to get a good look.

I've had the panels off, it's super easy, but didn't take pics. I chose to go this route so that I can have the straps at any location, and various types. 90% of the time I can get by with some carabiner-equipped bungees, and don't need the heavy straps. For those times, I carry a set of self-reeling cargo straps.

Do they self recoil or do you manually ratchet it back?

Great idea! Which model of Integral Strap did you use? I didn’t see anything Rivian specific. Thank you.

They were not Rivian specific.

Are you still happy with the setup? Would you recommend one on both sides?

I’ve them few months they self retract and are good . I went with the smallest I found for Toyota . Only use one bolt but I’m not transporting major loads

only mod I needed was to put a “flap” w two slices 4” into the bed liner to access spare pit
