My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Gah. The link The Verge points to is from last June.

I mean I hope it's true and we're closer to V2H ... but that article didn't give me confidence. <sad trombone>

It is nice to hear as of today it is still in the works, or at least nicer to know it has not been discarded. 😉

Wait I've heard this song before....
To be fair I don’t recall them once having said ‘this year’. It’s a bit like when I tell my wife that her day for laundry is today, and mine is tomorrow... …but with less consequences.

And we still haven't. The referenced story is a year old.

Oh look at you, using facts ;)

Thanks for the correction; it’s not even wassym in the linked article either.

RE recent teases: ‘An animated Yeti character (Rivian’s mascot) will use facial expressions to show whether the owner’s efficiency is high, low, or normal for current conditions,’ sounds suspiciously like the emoji Wassym shared on twitter the other day.

At this point, I doubt its coming in the next 1-2 years. Rivian is focused on the R2 launch, Rivian-VW joint venture, expanding service centers and Georgia plant - which they should be. Big picture, though nice to have, its a low priority to have V2H.

You won't get V2H until standardized V2H bidirectional chargers are available. Right now, they're all vaporware or in indefinite pre-order status. This situation hasn't changed in the past year.

The Rivian vehicle hardware has been capable of this since day 1, but there's nothing to plug into yet.

The Ford and Tesla solutions are proprietary. Rivian isn't going to go down that road.

Also, be aware that buying and installing a bi-directional charger isn't going to be cheap.

Messaging has been 'in the works' for over a year as well.

Just a reminder that you should not purchase anything based on the promise of future functionality...
