Alright, I received my car from service yesterday. They stated that the A-pillar panel cover was fixed, they stated that some vehicles come with an adhesive that has some felt or fabric which causes the issues with the pilar coming off. They replaced the adhesive with one that doesn't have the fabric. I will take a drive to the mountains today and see if I get to hear any wind noise inside the cabin.

Wow.. Thank you and @jjswan33 for posting. Mine spent 3 weeks in the service center on this issue, they replaced the corner window with almost no improvement in sound. I walk out after seeing your post and mine is exactly the same, piano black trim piece falls off as soon as I put any pressure on it. Doesn't move on the driver's side (no wind noise on that side).

Calling service tomorrow..

@CarMAN3 you should still ask them to replace the adhesive on the driver side, if it is not giving you the problem right now, it will at some point. I had the same issue, only on one side and after a couple of long trips, the driver's side started to give issues.

Think this has been remedied in later VIN's? I'm an early 4XXX and my driver side is "popping off" now.

Service finally got back to me and had me look at the window closely. If I open the door and feel the black plastic outside housing it is not secured and I can freely move it, see the video below. I confirmed my drivers side is securely attached. It sounded like this is exactly what she was expecting.

Thanks! I checked this and it is the exact same issue on mine. Let's hope they can actually fix it :)

Anyone think these gaps around the windshield might be sources of wind noise? Does anyone else have these gaps?

I'm really starting to question Rivian's build quality seeing these basic problems. I think the roof gaps really depict some shoddiness.
On the one hand, I expect some of this. On the other hand, I'm increasingly questioning my own tolerance for driving around in a beta product. Current plan (if they ever send me an actual vehicle) is to drive it for 6 months, hope that my build is one of the lucky ones, and sell it on the secondary market if I just can't deal.

I am also thinking this is the issue, after they did the adhesive replacement of the A-pillar cover I still hear noise in the cabin.

Will be interesting to see if Munro finds any issues that might be responsible for this noise similar to what they identified with Tesla MY.

Im not sure if it was this forum or ROF but someone installed this to deal with wind noise coming from windshield area. Im assuming a short term fix ..... Amazon.com: CITALL 118" Car Front Windshield Sunroof Windshield Edge Protector Trimmed Rubber Seal 300x1.5cm : Automotive
Adding that trim for the windshield/roof gap is pretty common in the Tesla world. I used it on the Mach E for the same reason. I'll take a look at the gaps when my truck arrives thursday to see if I need to try it again.

Mine is the triangle mostly, and the trim piece is really taped down at all.

I then used electrical tape and taped this down what would be 'properly' and it greatly reduced the noise, but I still have noise around the driver door (which is slightly misaligned horizontally, so I imagine that is the issue there), and what seems around the windshield.

Once fix at a time I guess...

Just got a call from the SC yesterday and they stated that the wind noise is "within tolerance." I'm not super pleased with that response. Guess I'll just open up another service ticket right away when it comes back. Seems silly that Rivian hasn't found and approved a fix for this to push out to the fleet of delivered vehicles.

Resolved - for my issue anyway. Loud wind noise at ear level and seemingly triangle window. Sounded like the windows were almost cracked open.

I've had 3 SC appointments to sort this out finally. Door adjustment the first time to close the gap in the A-pillar, which didn't solve the wind noise. Second visit replaced the triangular window and sealant...surprisingly also did not solve it, but did make it worse which was productive for troubleshooting. Third time was focused on the door exterior trim. Technician completely removed the door trim (specifically all the shiny black plastic) and re-sealed everything. Of note, the black trim was very slightly wavy up through the a-pillar...and I mean ever so slightly. The tech and I both debated on if that would really do anything. Short answer, it definitely does. The loud noise at ear level was completely resolved and now silent.

That made the noise from the triangle window easier to pinpoint. The forward most corner of the window was sticking out past the door frame about 1/16th in due to improper seal most likely. Resolved as well and now the cabin is near silent.

Moral of the story, I'm surprised at how much the smallest detail in trim has on flow for this vehicle. If you have nuisance wind noise coming from anywhere it is likely trim protruding from somewhere - and you need to look extremely close for misalignment.

For those with roof glass noise, look at the panel just forward of the glass as the aft end of that panel is only secured by sealant as well. You could have some wariness up there if the technician pressed too hard during application, etc. ALSO, pay attention to the rail trim that overlays your rooftop cross bar connections. That black piece that runs the length of your cab with cutouts for the mounts is loosely secured with 4 press fasteners and not sealed beyond that. That apparently was by design, but I had them seal that as well which resulted in no roof noise.

Hope this helps someone. Service is learning everyday, so try to stay patient. Burden of being an early buyer. Awesome vehicle!

You can use an electric duster and have one person sit inside while the other person blows air around the a piller/triangle outside to help isolate where the wind noise is coming from.
