...... You are completely missing the point. Show me a wheel where the larger wheel (with tire) is going to be lighter than the smaller wheel (with tire) for equivalent wheels and equal tire circumference.
You're missing the point. It is possible. For example, a Michelin Cross Climate 2 at 21" weighs only 1.9lbs more than a comparable CC2 20". You can readily get a performance forged 21" wheel that weighs 25-35% less then a case equivalent. With cast wheels in 21"s typically weighing 35-45lbs, and forged weighing ~25-33lbs... there's commonly a 25% savings. So, a tire that weighs 2lbs more, plus a wheel that weighs 10lbs less... net loss of weight.

We're talking about keeping the overall tire diameter the same. You're apparently not, if you think a 21-in tire is going to be heavier than a 20-in.

427-in overall diameter tire, the one that fits on a 19 inch wheel will be lighter than the one that fits on a 17-in wheel.

I get the feeling that this forum has a high propensity of middle aged people who are searching for a religion in Rivian lol. The fact that so many of you don’t want an editorial detailing objective opinions and truths is absolutely wild; ESPECIALLY considering that if the R2 fails to sell to “non-believers” like me, y’all’re gonna be stuck holding the bag like with Fisker. The way some of y’all talk sounds like either a salesperson making commission on their posts, or you’re expecting RJ to love your dedication to the brand and will bless you with a discounted vehicle. It’s frankly embarrassing to read the shill-y responses here.

I haven’t posted on Facebook in probably half a decade. Not me.
I don't own a Rivian, and I cancelled my R2 order. No dog in the fight, but I am confused as to how you thought your original post was going to be received openly. Rivian has reached Tesla level of fanboys, and Rivian Forums and Reddit are their fanboy treehouse. You are entitled to your own opinion, but no one should go into church and scream, "Jesus wasn't real," and expect to be welcomed with open debate, and if you do, maybe you should try that and see how it goes. Just video tape it, it would probably be more interesting than this thread

The only thing I don't agree with in this whole 15 page debacle of a thread is Rivian has been open and forthcoming about CarPlay. Yes, they have been open and forthcoming about not adding it, but they have continuously lied about their reasoning. Saying, "it takes up every pixel of screen real estate."

Bro you said Carplay and not having a sunroof were big points then you turn around and buy a Tesla beacuse of some accessory that might stop working after a firmware update, and which also exists for Rivian. Then, unless you're buying a base Model Y which I doubt you are, it also has a glass roof. You're just not consistent. LIke most of the dealbreaking issues you listed also apply to Tesla.

As a husband and father of a teen girl, this thread is like watching them have a discussion that start with the "need" for more expensive athleisure wear, pivots to what's for dinner, then who last wore whose clothes- all involving a rapid oscillation between laughter, tears, and yelling. Doors are slammed. Hugs are traded. F'g weirdly entertaining from an observer's POV....

For the R1S, since it literally shares a platform with a truck, makes sense. The R2 is its own thing, so it wouldn't necessarily makes sense for it to feel truck like. I do disagree though to the original point of the poster that the R2 drives like a truck.

I actually find the R2 drives much closer to the Model Y than it does the R1S.
Makes sense, given it's a unibody versus a body on frame.

A larger wheel isn't necessarily heavier?

Find one, then. Show me a wheel+tire combo where the one with the larger wheel is lighter.
You have access to the internet. You are the one insisting a faulty generalization is absolutely true. You look it up for your own sake. I owe you nothing.

Lastly, just because Tesla does something doesn’t mean it is the best thing since sliced bread or the best possible thing allowed by laws of physics.

Trust me, we aren't all fanboys (or fangirls, or fan-non-binaries, etc.). You'll find plenty of people here that enjoy their Rivian, but also acknowledge the issues with both the vehicle and the company. I'm one of them. Lots of threads here where people complain about an issue or feature, but do so in a level-headed, realistic about how things work manner.

I absolutely cannot stand the stereotyping of anyone who doesn’t agree, and wholesale categorizing/demonizing them, as “fanboys” or “apologists”. Throughout history, that is how racist/fascist movements start and take hold. People need to learn how to respond to disagreements better.

I've read your posts and agree with you. I think you add value. I have blocked most people that do not by now. I just wonder if you are becoming the exception rather than the rule. Rivian Forums and much more critical than Reddit. I will not even go to r/Rivian or r/RivianR2 anymore

I think it's fairly normal but I grew up with brothers so I'm far from an expert. Too bad my R2 won't have CarPlay to escape and listen to an audiobook while it's happening
