For the last year, up until today, I have been able to set the charge rate under "schedule" in the app. Now the "schedule" button in the app is dead and I have no control over charge rate. Having control is important for me to manage charging with my solar/battery backup home system. Anyone else unable to control their charge rate from the app? Or could this be a glitch on my end?

I have these options in my IOS 2.20.0 app.

if you don’t, in IOS or a Droid, I say uninstall then reinstall.

Kind of ridiculous they don't let you charge the amperage unless you do it in scheduling. Just do it like Tesla please.

Working fine here. I agree - clear cache, reboot phone, or uninstall & reinstall app. They did just push the latest mobile software update yesterday so maybe an issue on your device?

This is a massive oversight and one that bothers me a lot. Sometimes I need dial back the amps on both my cars if charging at the same time. In the Rivian I have to stop my charge, setup a quick schedule with the stupid 30 minute granularity and then restart my charge.

Rivian should just try and emulate a lot of what Tesla does in the app space. For example...

Where is valet mode? What about parental mode? How can I limit the top speed when I am not driving it? The list goes on.

Not mention where the heck is messaging for the truck itself. Thank god I have Comma.ai and I can actually do hands free driving if I do need to text for a few seconds.

Thank you for your thoughtful replies, sounds like the problem is on my end, I'll try the cache/reboot/reinstall. Fingers crossed.

Being a retired "IT" guy, I suspect it's an issue with the app. Delete it and reinstall it. Otherwise, your "Pep Boys*" (auto service) alternative is to dismantle the vehicle dashboard. :D (I hope you realize that is sarcasm)

On using the app for setting charging - no issues here. I keep the R1T plugged in and have the app set for 8amps during "high sun" hours when the sun has fired up the home solar. I checked in on it frequently over the weekend while the truck was parked (we were away). Buttons all worked!

I have periodic problems with my Android app being forgotten as the "key" for my R1T (about once a month, usually after my husband opens and starts the truck with his iOS phone). I just delete the key and app and start over again. Got it down to about a minute turn-around. For me, I suspect it's a problem with my POS Android phone. Older Android phone (home use only) works just fine.

* - History. Decades ago, had an old Ford LTD hooptie that was a daily driver for my husband. Turn signal stopped working (blinking) - stayed on. Me, being an old Ford person, knew a bulb was blown somewhere. Husband wouldn't listen to me - took it to Pep Boys. Pep Boys insisted that the problem was in the stalk-mounted turning switch and wanted to dismantle the whole assembly to repair it. I went met him there before he agreed to the $1k+ repair estimate (thankfully he called me first), grabbed the replacement bulb from their store rack and put it in the tail light assembly - fixed the problem. Told the repair toad to, essentially, "F-off!".

Former 2016 Model X 90D and 2022 Model X Plaid owner and since my Dec 24 delivery of my 25 Dual performance R1S I’ve been saying on repeat, “why reinvent the wheel? Just copy and paste everything Tesla is doing!”

I have to take all my restaurant and home depot gift cards with me every time I valet or go to the car wash

Why can’t the amperage automatically change based on my geolocation?

why can’t I “start the car” and allow someone else to drive it with my phone?

Oh my biggest peeve… why is the side camera angle of my wheels at 40mph and not the side lanes but only when I turn the signal on I can see the side lanes?

why isn’t the main screen configurable to have navigation and rear camera on simultaneously? I have so much user feedback to give.

we need to start a suggestion box section here on rivianforums and then RJ have a dedicated hire solely to review user requests/feedback. It’s the best way to implement beneficial software updates.

more that I like the vehicle a lot but there are a bunch of very easily software implementable improvements that are obvious in their omission

Also… had multiple test drives and visits to Rivian experience events prior to lease.
The private personal experience time allotment is not long enough for these detriments to materialize (OPs app difficulty for instance).

Thx (for your suggestion/advice/opinion?) tho ??

Trying to pump as much solar back into the grid when I can because the house is all electric, and it's still somewhat winter here in RI. Much above 8amps and I am sucking power off the grid for now. When the truck can stay parked for 2-3 days at a stretch, 8amps is just fine for topping off the battery after an occasional morning of local errands. I keep the battery limit set to 80%, and local errands will knock it down to around the low 70%. Takes nothing to top it off at the slow rate. Now, that is how I handle charging when I'm not in any hurry to get somewhere.

We had one or two warm days recently when I was able to turn off the furnace and mini-split heaters. I was able to bump the amps up to 16 before the draw was more than the panels were producing and the house needed. I'm not going "OH MY GOD!!!"; it's just me getting used to the power balancing act with an EV now tied into our home solar architecture. And Spring is right around the corner - the days are getting longer!

If I have a slog of errands slated throughout the week, there is a ChargePoint station less than 2 miles from my home - I'll pop over to there to top off the battery to 80% in around 25 minutes; usually from the high 40% reserve after a lot of running around.

That's interesting. Do both chargers share the same circuit? I have one 50-amp circuit in our garage. The charger pulls 32 amps. We are contemplating a second EV and I have been thinking about how and when things will use that circuit. I know I won't be able to have two 32-amp devices on that one circuit, and I don't think our 100amp sub-panel would handle a second breaker, either.

I am curious to follow this thread! How do folks handle charging multiple EV's off one circuit?

We have two EV’s (R1T launch and my wife’s Mach-e). I have the dedicated Rivian charger on a 60 amp breaker. She uses the travel charger from Ford that came with the car on a 40 amp (maybe it is a 50, can’t remember off hand) and we have those in a sub-panel in the garage from our main in the basement on a 100 amp breaker. Never had a problem.

I do something similar. Once my Powerwalls are fully charged (typically around noonish), I use the excess solar to charge my EVs which aren't driven daily. I have 2x Wallbox Pulsar Plus units and I dial down the amperage to match excess solar generation. Works great to top off the vehicles with solar.
