Ok so I cleaned my truck today, and I noticed on the black trim pieces along the rocker panel there seems to be bloches, stains, hell could even be dried on paint?

At this point my regular car wash didnt work, tried dawn and nope, even some murphys oil soap. Whatever it is on there hasn't budged.

Does anyone any ideas on what to use?

Wife's 24 R1S had polish on there...white residue from delivery prep. I tried magic eraser did good but not 100% and it wore the finish off the plastic so Rivian replaced that section.

There have been some folks on here who have had theirs get discolored and Rivian replaced it.

Magic eraser is an abrasive pad. Not as gritty as a Brillo pad but an abrasive pad nontheless. The plastic trim is textured with peaks and valleys. Wiping with an abrasive pad is just like sanding drywall with a fine grit sandpaper—you're sanding down the peaks (as well as the outer layer, which can make UV damage more severe).

Cerakote Trim Coat ($16 from Amazon)—ceramic coating for plastics. Follow instructions and wash with dish soap using a soft sponge or microfiber towel to strip off all grease/grime, or wax. If that isn't enough, rubbing alcohol should do it. Once dried the plastic trim may look dull or faded. That's where Trim Coat comes in, to restore that deep rich like-new appearance. And it will stay that way through more than a few summers; unlike products like 303 or Armor-All (which would only last a few weeks).

I just use tire dressing. It stays matte black for a few months.

I use Opti-Bond Tire Gel.

I've been happy with the Stoner Trim Shine

I may try the Cerakote others recommended above next time... but this Trim Shine was recommended elsewhere and it's held up for months of AZ summer and multiple washes after off roading. haven't thought to reapply yet

Another vote for cerakote trim coat. Lasts about 6 months per application.

Easiest way to clean the black plastic is a magic eraser and a bucket of water with dawn dishwashing liquid in it. A light touch is all that is needed. They will look good as new.

Those Cerakote pads are awesome, I've used them a lot.

You really need to pre-clean with fairly harsh treatment. It was recommended that I use a high-alkaline dish soap (Dawn) and then a 50% isopropyl alcohol spray. Which incidentally, is the best thing for windows per all the tint shops. Using those cleaning steps, the Cerakote is basically forever, so far for me.

Lasts about 6 months per application.
So far, well over that on a motorcycle that is parked indoors. The Rivian, which is parked outdoors, has only had it since early May.

Another +1 on the CERAKOTE trim kit ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SHJVK4G ) to renew the black plastic. I had a early mud stain that wouldn't go away with any amount of soap and scrubbing. This product nearly eliminated it, at least visibly. Makes the black look darker and slightly glossy again like original.
