I'll give that a try. I'm updating now. That's just pressing up instead of down on the stalk to engage MADS?
You need to press down first to engage. Then press up for MADS.

After driving with OpenPilot for a few days I decided to try SunnyPilot. I followed the instructions for uninstalling OpenPilot and installing SunnyPilot but after the reboot it would not recognize my dongle id.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you turn on NNLC under steering? When I turned that on it wouldn't recognize mine either. Turned it off, rebooted, all good.

What did you install? The Rivian version for sunny pilot it should be sunny pilot/mads-tesla or /mads-tesla-prebuilt

Yep, sunnypilot/mads-tesla-prebuilt loaded very quickly.

Thank you.

Works great for mine. I was running main fork for a few weeks, just switched to sunny mads prebuilt and enjoying the mads option (have driveb about 2.5 hours with it). Just a note, need to set mads to disable with brake under steering setting (mine was defaulted to not, and I initially couldn't turn mads off at all). Also note, some settings remain greyed out after driving even when back admin park (like it thinks you are still driving, maybe a Rivian thing?), might need to reboot comma to change them.
Did that work for your vehicle?

I’ve had mixed results. Yesterday I was able to do a 12-mile round trip and things seemed to work just fine. Even tried MADS and that was fun — but like @Tatnai I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. :)

Last night I played with some settings and then this morning I repeated the same loop and had a different experience. Comma kept rebooting and flashing the warning “branch not tested”.

I’m back on the main branch of OP which is working fine and may try SP again tomorrow.

All of these releases have different settings. What I'm currently running has these features:

Down for all control (speed and steering)
Up to cancel speed, keep steering
Brake to cancel all

There's another version where I couldn't cancel the steering at all, that was stupid.

I reinstalled SP and it seems to be working properly — for now. 🤞

I found the toggle for Cancel All when braking, but I never found a toggle for cancel speed and keep steering even tho I tried it and it does work. Also, what is Unified Engagement Mode (UEM)?

I've tried so many versions I have no idea which has what toggles. Also, many toggles will disappear when you connect to the Rivian, even if they were there before.

Hah! That’s pretty funny.

I do have 2 concerns:

1) every time SP/mads-tesla-prebuilt powers up the yellow warning message pops up: “This branch is not tested”. is that normal?

2) following a vehicle with ACC active I never see the yellow triangle as described in the instructions. is that normal?

thanks and good luck.
