Is there a breakdown of how GEN1 autonomous driving capabilities compare to Comma? Comma is just a man in the middle solution so I can't figure how it's radically different. Maybe the biggest difference is you can use it on more roads? I don't think it can do door-to-door navigation though.

I'd love to hear or see a video of someone who can demo all the ways comma improves on what Rivian natively offers.

Two or three threads on this already. Just search.

I think this might help. It’s a guy I know locally who helped me install the Comma harness on my truck.

Yes, you're right, I guess that's a not an accurate statement. From what I can tell it's learning what data Rivian sends on it's internal system and then uses the harness (which sits in the middle) to inject those commands as though it were coming Rivian ADAS. What I was implying is that it can't invent new commands or ways to control the truck beyond what the native system does. If I understand the issue with SetSpeed that's a good example of how it really is limited to the narrow way Rivian designed their ADAS. At least that's what I can figure out so far.

Thanks godfodder0901 and DayTripping for the pointers. I found the main thread which is light on details, but did help me understand it better. Below is another video from the Comma guys which offers some more info.

I'll start following the main thread to help keep things clean, but thanks for your replies on this one.

A level 5 would still use the same instructions as a level 2. Steer left or right, accelerate or decelerate. It’s the decision making process that matters not the instructions between the controller and the power steering, motors, and brakes. The Comma has its own sensors, compute, and logic.

You’re creating and assuming limitations and issues all based on things that just aren’t accurate. Comma can indeed do a lot more than the junk ADAS in the truck.
