Yes it was. LOL Just because a statement exists on a website doesn't mean it wasn't also left out of the process. They sure used Spotify as a nice value add during the purchasing process and never once mentioned it was going away (The internet connection, not Spotify).

It was part of the configurator when you configured your vehicle as well. You just didn't read.

I actually do own an R1S, and I actually used to love it.

I joined the forum just yesterday and it was mostly to get a sense of where everyone was as it relates to the Connect+ features.

Maybe, hopefully, I will get to peruse other topics when I get over my disappointment and stop getting lambasted...

Crazy that $150 made you hate something you loved. I can't imagine living life that way.

I obviously can't go back and time and create an order, but it was disclosed a similar way that autonomous driving platform and connect plus benefits are disclosed now.

I can't wait until they make people subscribe to their auto lane changes, even though that's been disclosed since it was introduced as well.

The original announcement was that Rivian would provide complementary LTE connectivity through 2023. They didn't actually cut folks off until Oct 2024 - so you got an extra nine and a half months of free LTE. And people will still complain.

You can get almost everything back (except for the satellite maps, google location pictures, and live camera via the app) by hotspotting your phone and running off your own data plan if you don't want to play for Connect+.

Here is just one of multiple articles out there stating clearly that it was a 12 month "free trial" for charging and LTE. The only thing is Rivian cruelly allowed the free trial to extend past that 12 months because they are obviously evil and greedy and out to ruin your lives:

Following the commencement of production last week, Rivian has announced their own membership program for R1T and R1S owners. The program will grant owners free access to Rivian’s Adventure Network and Waypoint chargers, as well as unlimited 4G LTE connectivity.

Although Rivian is yet to build a single operating public charger, they promise over 10,000 will be available by the end of 2023. Impressively, the Rivian Adventure Network and Waypoint chargers will be powered completely by renewable energy. This will be done via partnerships with certain electricity providers, as opposed to having actual solar panels or wind turbines on-site.

The membership program also includes Rivian off-Roadside Assistance. This service basically ensures you won’t get stranded if you run out of battery in a remote location, with a recovery vehicle being dispatched to help you out.

Lots of other membership perks will be available in the future, including community meetups, “in-cabin content” (infotainment video games akin to Tesla, perhaps?) and even new drive modes. Rivian did not say how much membership will cost once your complimentary 12 months are up, but expect to find out soon.



Rivian’s first two vehicles, the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, start at $67,500 and $70,000 respectfully. Both are capable of 0-60 mph in as little as 3 seconds, meanwhile the R1T can tow up to 11,000 lbs. The R1S has an estimated 316 mile EPA range meanwhile the R1T has a 314 mile EPA estimate.
Each Rivian will come with a 5-year / 60,000 mile general warranty and a 8-year / 175,000 mile battery warranty. With production now underway, first R1T deliveries are expected to happen before the end of the month. When the R1S will reach customers is currently unknown, but it should follow hot on the heels of the R1T sometime this fall.

Yes, setting up the automated hot spot connection via shortcut app with iPhone works seamlessly and Apple Music works great. I haven't tried Amazon Music with Alexa yet because wife can't remember her Amazon account password.

The only annoyance is when the truck is connected to wifi in your home and then you get in and drive away, the wifi from the house disconnects and you get the "Stay connected with connect plus" pop up for 10 seconds until the wifi from the hotspot takes over. 1st world problems...

Hmmm... Would it be more annoying to have the truck forget the home wifi and connect like once a month?

Odd. I don't have this issue. Started streaming in park, and drove all the way to work without any interruptions... What are you using for your trigger to start your hotspot?
