CRITICAL BATTERY ISSUE.

So about a week ago I pulled out of my driveway and got a critical battery issue. My R1S bricked in front of my neighbor's driveway. Rivian had it about a week and brought it back yesterday. All good!
anyone else have anything like this happen?

Did they tell you what went wrong?

They didn't communicate very effectively... but "I think" some switch got stuck in an open/close position based on the invoice I received.

I had my HV battery fail, but surprisingly enough it never bricked (lucky). I was getting error codes when I tried to fast charge. Likewise, they had it for 6 days and no issues since.

Sounds like a high voltage battery junction box (HVBJB) contactors got welded in the open/close position. Ford is dealing with this issue on the Mache.

I got the 12v battery issue about a year ago on the way to work. I pulled over (at 3:30am) and called Rivian and was surprised they answered. Went through the hard reset, soft reset and it didn't fix it. The support person assured me that I can make it to work (about 80 miles away) with no issue. He said to plug in and close the apps and put the car to sleep maybe it will reset. It didn't work but I stay locally while I am in town for work. I parked the car overnight at the hotel and when I woke up in the morn.....voila.....it cleared. I called them and they still scheduled a mobile appointment for that Friday.

I made it home with no issue and the tech said that the battery is sill "ok" but he said he was replacing it because he doesn't want an "ok" battery in the truck.

Haven't had issue since.

Same exact issue! Tow truck is on the way now to transport my brand new R1T to the service center. No rhyme or reason - just displayed the "Critical battery" error then shut down (brick)! Thankfully, it's in my garage, and we have another car to use while the R1T is in for service. Not even 1,000 miles on the vehicle. Wow!

Same exact issue! Tow truck is on the way now to transport my brand new R1T to the service center. No rhyme or reason - just displayed the "Critical battery" error then shut down (brick)! Thankfully, it's in my garage, and we have another car to use while the R1T is in for service. Not even 1,000 miles on the vehicle. Wow!
I just had the same issue, the tow company had to literally drag the R1T out of my garage. Can’t be good for the truck. My truck is 1 month old. Unbelievable

Same for me - had to drag it out as well (since the rear wheels are locked, but front rolls). Got my R1T on Mar 22nd. So bummed

Update: just got the R1T back. In short, the 12V battery failed and had to be replaced. Engineering was unable to identify WHY it failed, and why the failure triggered an incorrect notification, but said they will continue to monitor, and indicated a future firmware update may address this issue. Won't be going on any long trips for now, just to be safe.

I just got back from a road trip to AZ, I live in Albuquerque. All went well on the trip, several charging stops at Rivian, Tesla, and Charge America chargers with no issues. Got home, parked in garage and plugged in as usual, I had about 20% when I got home. This morning, went out to run some errands and vehicle was "dead", I could open only the passenger front door, I could not unplug, all screens were blank, nothing happening. I called and the support person had me try all the resets to no avail. She had me push the fronk open button on the front of the R1S 15 times and it started to "wake up" but then went blank again. I fortunatly had a home service visit scheduled for today for a totally unrelated issue with the tire pressure monitoring. Tech came and tried to power up the batter with charger and said it was only at about 6 volts. He got it to about 8, but not enough. He did not have a Gen 2 battery with him so will get one this week and install in a few days. Any information or advice would be appreciated. I did not recieve any warning messages that the 12v was failing.

Just happened to me this week. The dash was mildly responsive, but then became a brick. Ended up being a 12 V battery crack. I have no idea how that could happen. Tow truck operator was able to get it into transport mode by using a portable jumpstart battery. So he didn’t have to drag it. Terminals to connected were in the front trunk remove the panel where you would change the cabin air filter. Terminals on the passenger side. One is marked red.
