Does anyone else find the new side camera views distracting and useless?

I find the new side camera views which show up when a turn signal is activated distracting and pretty much useless. In order to see anything smaller than a car (e.g. someone walking or a cyclist) one has to pay way to much attention to the image. Can someone tell me why they are supposed to be useful? I would find it much more helpful if the light on the mirrors were more obvious when someone is in the blind spot, similar to what a 2019 Subaru Forester does.

So turn them off. They were never going to be super great on the Gen1 because the cameras are potatoes. For some of us they will be useful for towing.

I don't mind the side cameras. I glance at them sometimes when they come on, but I am usually aware well in advance of what's coming up around me. It's not something I depend on for safety, but I do think that getting any additional visibility is a good thing.

I use them a lot, find them very useful. I still check by turning my head, or leaning, but its an added safety feature for me.

I’m getting used to mine. The more I use them the better. I don’t even have to look in my mirrors now if I choose to. Best use case for me so far has been multiple lane changes in dense traffic.

All that to say, I think it’s a great new feature.

I also don’t like them. I find them distracting and potentially dangerous. I didn’t like it when Telsa did it either (arguably more dangerous because they put the image on the center screen)…:I simply turned it off in the settings …

I turned around to glance back, looked at the side mirror, and then looked at the camera; then got vertigo (j/k). I've been driving tiny sports cars most of my life so I am very careful driving this 8.5k lbs Godzilla of a vehicle. I actually do find the cameras to be helpful.

I don't find them distracting, but only mildly useful which I was surprised by as I find the Model Y turn cams to be very useful. The quality is too poor, but worse the steering wheel obscures the view for me. It could just be my seating and wheel position, but it's never fully in view. I'd prefer them on the center screen which is not an opinion I expected to have ?‍♂

Maybe it's because I came from a Jeep, but I don't find the camera quality bad at all. It's not HD quality, but I'm not using it to watch TV. The side view has come in handy for me a couple of times already, so I like em.

It's a little odd looking down before turning, but like everything else in life, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I like them. Clarity isn’t great but gives you a decent idea of what’s beside you
I hear you. On Gen 2 the image is great.
