In my Gen1 R1T, auto does not turn back on by itself after sleep or otherwise. I've had auto ride height disabled for over 3 years and it's never turned itself back on. This is just now after the truck being asleep all night:

I think only the duals reset, as it's part of the parameters that are considered in the EPA rating.

IF, and that's a big if, I buy another Rivian; it WILL NOT be a dual motor truck. This kind of thing is found in several areas, and the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Gotcha, that makes more sense - nobody had mentioned it was a dual. You're right: mine is a quad. I'll see myself out 😉

I've noticed my Gen1 do this a few times. Since I've been on the freeway and a restart wasn't easily done, I went into the menu, turned off Auto ride height, then turned it back on...then in about 1-2 miles it lowered as normal.

In 30k miles of driving, I've left it in Auto and let the truck do its thing. In that time I haven't noticed any strange tire wear. When I got rid of the original AT 20s, they still were wearing evenly, and had plenty of tread left...they were jettisoned because they were so noisy. 5k on the Goodyears and they seem fine as well.

OPs is not a dual, at least if his Vehicle Garage is accurate with a 2022 R1T.

I also have a quad gen 1 and turned off Auto ride height almost 2 years ago and have never turned it back on (nor has it come back on after sleep).

That's what I thought, but 🤷‍♂️

Mine works perfectly fine, completely predictably.

Also, for anyone complaining about premature tire wear. It's a non-issue.

My commute is 73 miles one way (146 miles/day I drive it). Tires are wearing perfectly evenly with auto ride height on and around 60 of those miles are highway, so I'm riding on auto-low at highway speeds.

Don't waste your time chasing ghosts and enjoy the slightly increased efficiency of lowering your frontal profile :)

PS: current tires are Nokian nAT Outpost with over 20,000 miles on them and I can still see the 80% wear indicator. I'm going to get 75k out of these with a 5 tire rotation and without much fanfare.

TL;DR: auto ride height works and I highly recommend using it.

I’m not so concerned about tire wear, I’m more concerned that auto ride height accelerates the wearing out of dampers and the compressor? My ‘23 R1T Quad is at the service center now (under warranty) for front damper failure. What is the best setting for all around driving? Is there really any advantage to auto ride height? I’ve never changed mine.

Correct, this is a 2022 gen1 quad.

I did try turning Auto off, then back on, but it still didn't work.

I did the hard reset last night and will take it out on the highway today to see if that did anything.

I regularly do a 15mi highway drive (Sunriver to Bend, OR) and Auto used to work just fine on this drive.

I recently turned auto height adjustment off. There is an advantage when driving on the highway in the lowest setting, however the roads in my area are not the greatest and it makes for a terrible ride.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I started noticing two SW updates ago that the auto ride height feature no longer seems to work.

Just today, I was driving 75mph and the ride height was still at Standard. The "A with a circle around it" icon was displayed next to the ride height in the driver's display indicating Auto ride height was active and the Drive Modes screen on the center display showed the Auto button with the yellow "LED" on it lit.

The truck still kneels upon parking and returns to Standard ride height once driving recommences. It just never lowers once I get up to highway speeds any more.

Thanks.

Brian
I have the opposite, that I turn off auto-height and it turns itself back on, usually at inconvenient times, like when I'm pulling into our work parking garage and I want to be as low as possible.

Well, the hard reset "fixed" it so that's good.

I paid close attention to how the system operates and saw that in general, it waits about a minute after reaching highway speed to lower. Interestingly, once you slow down to below 40mph, it immediately raises to Standard ride height.

I would be blessed if my auto ride height mysteriously stopped working. I personally despise it and have to suffer turning it off every time I get in since they patched the forced re-enable in. It's actually rather dangerous if you use soft suspension because if it sets itself to low outside your notice any modest bump with the reduced travel would bottom the air springs out.

Getting launched vertically is not nearly as fun and even though I can't use soft settings any more I still suffer an occasional harsh reminder when I forget. Whoever thought it out as a feature didn't live in places with 55mph two lane roads and railroad crossings.

Dual motor have auto enabled by default and cannot be permanently disabled. Quad not an issue. It’s due to epa rules.
