How was your experience? I used one for the first time a little over a month ago and wish there were more local to me.

Back in August I went to Tahoe from Phoenix, using EA and RAN on the way. There was heavy rain on the way and I did 6 charging stops. On the way home It was nice weather and I picked a longer route, just so I could do it only charging at 4 RAN chargers. Made it no problem hitting Bishop, Inyokern, Barstow and Kingman. I did have one charger failure in Inyokern.

I covered 750 miles, 12.5 hours of driving and 105 minutes of charging.

It was great. A little remote but there’s a marathon station right there and a Dunkin’ (closed when we were there). Pretty obvious they put it where they saw a hole in the charging network.

The RAN charger is great there in Benton harbor. Stopped there a few times. Its the Dunkin that's the worst. Sign on the bathroom, you have to buy something first before they will give you the key. Maybe now its changed. (?)

RAN Chargers are great and thoughtless. I also like how they will show a red light if a particular charger is off-line..so you know even before you pull up.
I did have an issue in Inyokern where a charger failed to initiate. It was my second time at that site and I had already used RANs several other times. We were stopping to eat so just plugged in and walked away. That turned out to be a mistake, because I never got any warning in the app that charging had failed. I opened the app on the phone to see how it was progressing and it was not charging. Had to go back to the charger and it had a fialure message on the screen.

So my advice is to not get too comfortable with the experience, trust but verify.

Do you have to pay for the RAN? Or just pull up and plug in? Just got our R1S and haven’t used one yet.

Imagine if rivian builds the second most reliable network in the country. Got to hand it to them since no other car manufacturers are committed to it. VW was dragged into it and it shows but they did build out a huge network at least.
