Driving to work when noticed tire Had tire pressure warning. Left front drivers side tire is 15 lower than the others While driving to work. Just had a 7500 tire rotation $200 completed. Called Rivian since working out of town ER 68 miles away. They were nice I asked about the people they would send and was assured that they would be familiar and know what to do to change your tire with spare. I purchase the full size 1500$ spare after I took delivery and realized I had none. Another out of pocket expense. Anyway the guys shows up in the truck with a vehicle already loaded With a pickup. He gets out of his truck with a floor jack out and precedes to slide it underneath the side of the R1T. he has No clue what a puck Is when I asked. Since I’m on work duty I show him where to put the oe screw jack with puck correctly and open the tire truck bed for him to get the replacement Tire. I then leave since he had no other question and go back to work seeing patients. Once I slow down I look at the hospital cameras and no one is working on my truck. I got outside to find a mess and damage to my rim (pictures attached). The guy was suppose to call me when he’s done. Looks like the center Rivian cap was removed and became a souviner. IN ADDITION TO DEEP GOUGE FROM LUG NUTS The CENTER CAP WAS MISSING. HOLY CRAP. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. He knew he had screwed up because he left suddenly and never followed up. asked him to let me know when he’s done.i could reach him wouldn’t answer.

I called service uploaded pictures. They were helpful and sympathetic and created a claim for me. Initially i was told a quick resolution. Now looks like 2 weeks to investigate. I had bought the full size spare and it’s sat until it was removed by the tow truck person they had called. Not sure what other investigation because I did nothing to create this damage. I’m sure he will say it was damaged when he moved it but I Never touched it so damage is from-him and him alone (To me it Looks like when tightening lugs slipped and wrench gouged rim). Could never find the Rivian center-cap emblem and truly believe it became a souvenir.

Lessons learned. When you need roadside and guy shows up not knowing what to do tell them not to touch the vehicle and call Rivian to send someone else. I specifically asked rivian and they said the people coming out would know what to do (ie they know the vehicle). this really sucks. I need a new rim and center cap.

Today took the tire to 3 different tire dealership who all refused to repair the loose tire. WTH. I finally convinced the 4th to do it. Evidently they are told not to do anything with electric vehicles by the chain. Mkes me want see to get something else. the Service center is 3 hours away.

I just had the 7500 service plus tire rotation for $200 with the same rims at the Service Center. They did a great job and didn't mar the finish with their sockets. I bought a good tire repair kit and hope to never have to call for service for this reason you listed. I'm sure they'll make it right but I would've never bought my truck if my SC was 3 hours away. I've had a bunch of issues that would've made me sell it if I had to drive back and forth that many times at that time/distance.

Roadside service will always be done by whatever random crackhead was able to pass a piss test that morning. Weird about the tire shops though, I've never had any express any EV issues.

The gouging probably came from the spare carrier rod that has to be removed before you take the spare out or put it back in to the storage compartment. The center cap might still be on the original wheel - the spare doesn’t come with one.

In any event, Rivian needs to make this right. Sucks that you have to deal with this.

I think foobar may be right. The first time I rotated my tires (5 tire rotation), I scratched my own rim on the threaded upright stem in the spare tire area. If I had read the instructions, I would have seen that you should remove the stem before wrestling the tire out. But I didn't.

I also noticed the spare had no center cap, so i had to poop out the center cap from the wheel going into the spare well and insert it into the former share, now mounted on the truck.

Good luck with resolution, I hope everything ends up right for you eventually.

Sounds about right!
Never take your eyes off them when they are working/hooking up your vehicle! Almost all modern vehicles explicitly mention "do not use J-hooks to pull or secure vehicle to flatbed" and yet the fist thing these lazy bastards do is get out the old J-hooks when they're ready to pull it up on the flatbed.
