Has anyone experienced higher than 'normal' heat coming from the Frunk. It seems as though there is internal heat generated from inside/under the Frunk. Not the place to put groceries if this is common.

The radiator fans blow the heated air right around the frunk tub, so no surprise it gets hot in there. Bad design by inexperienced engineers.

The Lightening air flow is such the the hot air is blown below and behind the frunk area reducing any potential heating.

Is the heat excessive? Would you not put groceries or anything else that is somewhat heat sensitive in the frunk?

In the winter you will be fine but in the summer it gets really hot. In Texas this summer when it was about 105 and the cooling fans were running constantly on high I bet you it was 190 degrees in the frunk. The good news is that you can definitely keep food warm in there! LOL

The other interesting thing is that somehow the gear tunnel is cooled so even in the heat of the summer it stayed nice and cool in there.

Yeah I would not put fresh groceries in the R1S frunk, it is a bummer because in the Tesla Y it was the coolest storage

Had some water bottles in the frunk on a warm day last month during a 3 hour drive. When we got home they were hot. If I woulda known, I would have dropped some tea bags in there to make it useful.

You can actually buy an R1 frunk-mounted pizza stone in the gear shop. Right next to the camp kitchen.

Doesn't slide out though, and you have to drive around a lot to make it work.

Made the mistake of putting groceries in there once in SoCal this summer. We've since gone back to the trunk, making use of the in-cabin AC.

I put groceries in the frunk all the time but it's only a few minutes drive home so I guess I don't notice it getting hot.

I use an insulated bag in the gear tunnel for things that are temperature sensitive. Frunk is only for canned/boxed/etc goods.
