Ford lightning owner here for the last two years.. Just bought my R1t 5 months ago.. the lightning from what I can tell so far is much more eifficient when it comes to the 12v battery.. and it all pretty much boils down to the fact it has a god dam on/off switch.. love the rivian so far... I want to turn my car off when I want to, and turn my car on when I want to.. this thing is constantly trying to sense if there is someone opening the door or sitting in the driver seat..of course there is going to be vampires drain.. gotta keep those sensors alive
for people that don't drive the Rivian daily, your 12V will run its cycle much more faster and also lose daily miles or 1-2% HV battery. Keep it plugged into Level-1 or connect a directly battery tender/maintainer to the battery itself. It will sleep for 5-8 hours (depends) and really extend the life of the 12V. Good luck to all!

FYI, I am away from home and after 8 days (still have a few more to go) I had a 3.5% SoC drain so far.

It's the 2nd time I'm using vehicle shipping mode when I'm leaving home for a trip and it's showing to be a great solution from longer-term storage. Mind you, it would NOT leave Gear Guard enable, so probably not the best for Airport Parking if you want to monitor it while away.

I haven't performed my 12V maintenance for a while, so I would say the 'state' of my 12v is normal so sleep cycles are about are about 12-18hrs each (last time I tried shipping mode, It would sleep for ~26hrs each cycle).

I would totally 100% recommend Vehicle Shipping mode as a long-term storage solution when Gear Guard isn't required.

I am curious if you considered plugging it in and leaving it plugged in while away? You could set the target charge for 50%, and then it would use shore power to keep the HVB and LVB healthy. That doesn't usually work at the airport, of course, but if you leave the truck at home you could do that.

That's the proper way to store it at home, I would think. That's what I would suggest other people do. But I'm trying different things because I'm a nerd :) AND also, some people can't park/store their vehicles next to an L2 even when at home, so my hope is that my data helps others :)

I'll be out again in November and I will store it in a different way that I'm planning in order to directly compare with the way it is today.
