When I had my Kia, my neighbor always insisted I charge at his house during the day, when no one was home. His reasoning was “ I would rather have a friend use the power from my solar then sell it back to the SCE.” I never took him up on it as I felt weird going in his hours when no one was there.

This used to be a lot more common when electrical vehicle range was low like first gen Nissan leaf and you just needed the top off to get home. After all level one uses barely any juice.

I think it'll be less common with the high-speed charging but if somebody asked I would just let them and not care. If I'm staying at somebody's house a week I might leave a $20 bill behind

I had a friend with a Tesla stop by the other day, and I knew he was far from home. I offered my L2 charger as a courtesy, which he politely declined. None of my "friends" would abuse that courtesy, however. When I travel to my parents, they have no chargers nearby and I supercharge a couple hours away. They offered to install a 240V plug for me and they don't even have an EV!!! (I told them no, until they get an EV of course)
