I bring it up every time I go in for other services. I got new front half-shafts in July of 24. The truck was perfect for about 2 months after. It improved my opinion and enjoyment of driving the truck when it ran quietly. Now, a year later, it's back. I just submitted another ticket with a video and asked, "Is this normal, and is there no damage being done to the drivetrain if this is not fixed?" I'm way past lemon or buyback being 3 years in, but I've decided this is probably a deal breaker for me in the long term if there isn't a permanent fix.

Same. Second set of half shafts now. Dampers, jounce lines and ting washers also all replaced at this point. Truck is PERFECT again but Im worried it will once again sound like a bucket of bolts in 3 months. We will see. Crossing fingers and toes.

What is the "bucket of bolts" sound from? Dampers/airsprings? Halfshafts? Something else?

Is it just a sound, or does the ride quality suffer as well?

I went through the exact same process with our 2022 R1T. The issue came back 1-2 months later even with the new half shafts.

Just a sound
Interesting. Whenever I hear rattles and clunks, It always coincides with harsh/sloppy ride and inconsistent ride heights (truck can droop in the front on one or both sides from typical ride height).

I've had a couple dampers replaced due to internal leaks, but I'm starting to think I have other issues with the air suspension (and the leaking dampers were just a downstream symptom). It seems to have a hard time maintaining good pressure in the front. Maybe a ride height sensor, or some other system leak??

I've also noticed this condition worsens with dramatic temperature shifts. It was 90 yesterday, and only mid 60s today. The suspension was bad this morning. Perhaps due to the colder temps causing air in the system to contract. When it heats up, air expands and helps maintain pressures in the system better. Is this a sound theory with air suspension?

I'm on my 2nd half shaft replacement (3 if counting original) in 45K miles.
1st service trip was for washers
2nd was half shaft replacement
3rd was half shafts, hubs, and upper control arms.

I have a feeling there will be a 4th visit prior to 5/60 warranty expiration.

I had noticed the sound but it didn't really bother me. Then when I had mobile 22.5k service a couple months ago the tech noticed the sound and suggested I may need new ting washers. Last week I brought it in to get an alignment (just got new tires) and to have the ting washer issue addressed. They confirmed the ting washer/noise issue on a "test drive" that didn't even need to leave the parking lot, and ended up replacing the half shafts, hubs, and doing the alignment all under warranty.

what's crazy, is just how dialed in the drivetrain feels after that work is done.

I just got it back and haven't really noticed much of a difference yet, although the only thing I noticed before the repair was the noise and tbh it wasn't clear to me that it was an issue until the tech brought it up which in retrospect was pretty key

That's wild. What did it sound like when it was bad? I'm not familiar how a ting washer would manifest as a noise. My brain goes to a choir of elementary kids playing the triangles.

It was a creaking sound at very low speeds. Kind of like when you were a kid and maybe had one of those toy cars that you’d pull back on the floor and then they would take off. The sound those toys made when you were pulling them backward. Best analogy I can think of. Tech said he thinks of it as more of a soft crunching sound.

Mine was replaced about 2 months ago.( 30k miles )I remember when my wife used to own a Tesla model X, they had the same problem with the half shafts. I wonder if this a byproduct of the weight of the vehicle.
