Out of service yesterday with replaced half shafts at 30,000KMS. Old shafts were C replaced with F. Feels great and hopefully it lasts longer than the originals. Apparently the Hubs showed no sign of corrosion which is something they have noticed in the past on others so they were not replaced on mine. I have trust in the service center and they have been great to deal with in Richmond BC, Canada

This is the reason I will sell this truck a few months before warranty. This is the reputational storm coming to the brand in a couple of years. They have to fix this.
Reputational storm? Too late bro. Wanna know what all my Tesla peeps ask me when I tell them I also own a Rivian? “Aren’t those in the shop a lot?”. People already know about the poor reliability of these cars

Remind them it's a new vehicle from a new car company. It also has the highest Consumers report customer satisfaction rating.

Very true points. But most people aren’t ok spending $100k for unreliable EVs. That’s why Rivian sells a measley 14k or so per qtr….

Richmond has been great. On this go, was it quite noticeable prior to the repair?

Very true points. But most people aren’t ok spending $100k for unreliable EVs. That’s why Rivian sells a measley 14k or so per qtr….
The pool of buyers in the $100K truck market is rather shallow too. The R2 will sell 5 to 10X as many vehicles as the R1 line.

My half-shafts were replaced with the G variant as seen on my receipt. Everything feels nice and tight after having hubs, half-shafts, jounce lines and dampeners replaced.

yes, before the ting washers last month it was so loud. You weren't sneaking out of a campsite. Try number 2 actually replacing the Half Shafts it feels new again and quiet.

The raptor is creeping up in the high 90s and they sell a shit ton more trucks than Rivian. Truck people are the last people to convert long term IMO

The typical half-ton buyer makes a conscious decision to commute at 17 mpg. I'd call that a bit of a red flag if we're talking about making wise choices.

I didn't say the guy who tows his camper every weekend, I said the "typical" buyer, which is a commuter.

Here's the million dollar question.

Has anyone had a F or G revision half-shaft fail yet?
No failure thus far. I have a G version that was installed on my Front Right. Quickly browsing my service records, it's the first and only one that's been replaced. This was January 6th 2025 on my January '23 Quad, at the time around 50,000kms.

They noted heavy corrosion on the hub assembly as well which was also changed. I'm left to assume that the very minor slop i'm currently starting to experience between stop and start or regen/accel is likely the Front Left original half shaft/hub assembly starting to wear out as well.

The halfshaft is splined on both ends and, of course, spins in the hub in order to propel the vehicle down the road.

On mine, the creaking sound was created where the axle enters the hub on the backside. grease fixed it for me.
