Hooting Dilemma

Since the last update, our dear Opal (our R1T) has been set to "hoot" upon locking both day and night. Last night when we arrived home, we were still on the driveway, she performed her locking "hoot". This was immediately answered by another hoot that was not from a Rivian. Using my key fob, I had Opal hoot several more times. Each one was answered by her prospective boyfriend. I guess the Rivian hoot is pretty authentic.

Yeah I had a related experience today, walked by the car to throw out some trash and heard a hoot. Did a double take and realized it was one of the neighborhood owls!

I want the screech owl instead, that what I have hanging in the backyard. I'll also settle for a barn owl.

I have it set for day/night and apparently they didn’t tie it to the screen setting or the actual time because I get the tweet or the hoot completely randomly throughout the day/night when locking ….

Occasionally I get a second tweet or hoot a few seconds after the initial one. I guess for good measure.

The standard bird chirp was an actual recording from a bird, I think in Yellowstone. The owl is probably also a real owl. The intention is to not disturb nature when camping.

Yes, the birds at the bird sanctuary scatter when the walk away hoot happens.

My bigger concern would be about the private data that it's communicating in these sounds, since birds are actually government surveillance drones. It it telling them what speeds I drive and what I talk about? Impossible to know.

I’m pretty sure it’s just dependent on what the light sensors are seeing. For example, when parked in my dark garage, the locking sound makes a hoot, even during day hours.
