Also, I'm good with the performance, but I would very much like to have Launch Mode on my R1T LE.

Don’t they offer this with the dual motor? A performance software upgrade makes it go from 533 to 665hp. If you have a quad motor they are giving you all of it at purchase.

Ah ok. I believe that will eventually be available to regular dual motor buyers if I understood correctly.

Seriously though, I think this is important to help move shop vehicles too. If Rivian offered this capability then folks who want DMP could grab a DM vehicle from the shop and just pay to upgrade to P.

I wish I had a date to share, but my team's insight is fairly limited. The upgrade will be available via a software update, and we plan to share more information as we get closer to launch. Yes, some of us relied on it when buying a dual motor. Of course, now that I know how great the regular dual motor is, I realize I don’t really need it. Still, if they don’t jack up the price from what it would have cost originally, I’ll probably still go for it.

In any case, there should be some takers and I hope it’s a good revenue boost for Q4.

I thought it was 3.5 seconds to 60. Do I misremember or did it get a tenth of a tick quicker?

I predict it will be offered slightly above the $5,000 price, along with a $250 “activation fee” to generate more profit and to help encourage new buyers get it with their initial order rather than waiting.

I also think they might offer periodic end of quarter upgrade deals that could knock off $1,000 or so.

I’d seriously consider it if it was around $2-$3K, but my regular Max is plenty of fun at the moment.

Gen 1 is 3.5 seconds and Gen 2 is 3.4 seconds.

Just skip both and upgrade to Gen 2 Quad and you won’t have to worry about .1 second difference between Gen 1 Performance Dual Motor and Gen 2 Performance Dual Motor.
