Adapters when hot will throttle or not work.

A bit more specifically, there are temperature sensors in the charging handle and the charge port inlet on the vehicle side. Charging derating occurs whenever either side gets too hot. Aside from the adapter being an additional heat generating resistor in the circuit, it starting off already hot can make the derate occur sooner as you noted.

I think its just a redundancy thing where I have to be careful not to actually need. Kinda like a second alarm clock, but it tasers you.

You'll be charging. Not buying their cars. If any cost of charging goes to the board, it would be fractions of a penny. You'll be keeping the folks who actually make things happen and work employed. You'll be keeping the local contractors who maintain the chargers employed. You'll be helping to provide competition to all other charging networks, motivating them to do better. If all other networks are as good as Supercharger, we all win.

I have to agree here.

I understand people wanting to make a point to not support him but at what cost? As of 2023 Tesla employed 140k people, they have almost 3k institutions holding stock and probably 10s of thousands of individual stockholders.

That is a lot of people that would be penalized for the behavior of one person.

Thanks - that makes sense. I keep a temperature logger in the frunk to keep track of how hot it gets, but was always worried more about luggage and cosmetics (wife and four daughters) than the adapters. I'll find a place to store the adapters in the cabin.

I just keep mine in the back of the R1S where the spare is. I do not use it unless I’m on a trip, I take it out and wrap it in a hand towel then put it in the drivers door pocket when on a trip.

This is the same feeling I had regarding great movies like American Beauty.

Why punish all the good people for the bad actions of one person?

I posted my conflicted feeling as I was simply feeling conflicted.

It actual reality its probably going to come down to a cost versus convenience thing.

Heck I still do business with Amazon and we all know Amazon is basically the devil. Haha.
