Very interesting. I would hold off until it’s demonstrated to work in the field. Also, $200 does not seem like a lot given that the L2 adapter is about $130… unless that’s just the reservation cost.

Finally, it’s really unclear to me how many Magic Dock SuC’s we will end up with. Seems like we have as many in colorado as we have RAN stations (4).

We were excited to see this offering. It is a signal to us that we will, in fact, be using the Tesla Superchargers next year. This will be a game changer for us who pull heavy trailers. This will make nationwide travel a reality for us.

I realize that Rivian has told us that they will provide us with an adapter. I wonder if Rivian plans to produce their own or contract with some like Lectron to make them for Rivian.

I think it will work on any v3 or v4 supercharger. There are about 25 in Colorado. Many more than RANs in Colorado.

100%

You’d be surprised how many people don’t understand the differences between the versioning of superchargers.

V1 and V2 superchargers will not be to charge a CCS vehicle with an adapter, and they will never receive a magic dock adapter.

This will actually be a game changer for anyone who has owned a Tesla for a number of years, and become accustomed to the ease, availability, and reliability of the Supercharger network. As one of those folks, I find the current state of the CCS network to be somewhat frustrating.

Rivian is likely OEMing an adapter. My guess is Tesla will design the adapter, or recommend specific brands that will then be OEMed by Rivian. I plan to wait until Rivian sends me their adapter and it's ready

Could just be us, but we've sort of noticed the superchargers in our area of Western NY are finally starting to see some real congestion, even during random, off-peak times. Sites where I've never seen a wait are, all the sudden, routinely showing 5-10 minute wait. I think the next "crisis" of the EV transition is going to be how bat$hit these superchargers will be for the next 2-3 years, as everyone piles on.

My Lectron adapter for my Tesla wall charger took crapped out and gave my truck errors after 4 months of use. I'm going to probably pass on future Lectron products.

In SoCal we are very used to crowded SuperChargers. Tesla has been good about expanding, they recently expanded the Supercharger in Indio from 10 to 46, was a little surprised none of them had the magic dock as that area could benefit from more CCS2 chargers, especially when they have special events like Stagecoach.

Will be nice for CCS when they open up that feature. There are still the original 10 there though that are v2, will be interesting to see how they indicate that those will be Tesla only spaces.

Also keep in mind Lectron products have not been UL approved to date. I have a Tesla to 1772 supposedly 48 amp adapter for emergency use only that’s tends to get warmer than I am comfortable with. Just in case

Why would anybody buy this before knowing how Tesla > Rivian supercharging is going to work, which adapters are going to work, or if the Rivian provided adapter is superior/inferior? There's absolutely zero reason to give this company money ahead of Tesla actually opening the network.
