That's interesting. I just got the latest update last night, so all of my issues were on the previous software version (2023.18) and not the latest (2023.22).
Actually I think I have a new data element. I believe my issues started when I played with scheduled charging with the updated App.

Having said that … the errors may have been happening before but I never noticed. I did switch off scheduled charging after I noticed … but now still getting errors. I’ll try ramp down the amps and see what that does.
here’s what mine was doing:

This just started with my Chargepoint Homeflex last night. I was away the previous week on vacation after installing the new update. Every time the truck goes to sleep the charging error occurs. Have turned down to 40 amps fingers crossed.

Not just the Rivian unit, issue spans multiple brands. Definitely a vehicle issue.

Last night I started charging at 44A. It errored out after a short period of charging. Dropped down to 40A and it resumed charging to completion without error.

Maybe the internal converter overheating

Yes, most likely, as I also really only notice problems when my garage temp starts out over 90F. The question is why. Others had no issue charging in the heat last summer but are this year. Seems Rivian has tweaked something in a recent software release that has triggered the problem.

Had this issue since the 2023.22 update, which pushed while the vehicle was at the SC in June. Several calls with service and a few trouble shooting efforts appear to have reached a conclusion. I got the error charging with the Rivian home charge at 11 kW @ 48 amp, errors out after about 10 kWh, went to a Blink charger at 9 kW which worked fine (delivered 34 kWh with no error). Reduced Rivian charger to 40 amps last night, and it charged fine (52-80%). Call with service today they said they have figured out it is an issue with the last update and they will push an OTA in the next 2 weeks to resolve. Service said to set vehicle to charge at 32 amps, and it should avoid the error.

My hardwired homeflex suddenly stopped charging a couple days ago (after over a year of use). 30min on the phone with ChargePoint without fixing (resets, lowering amps etc).

Ended up installing a 14-50 outlet late at night, used a $200 40amp charger without issue. Interesting that the 14-50 on the Rivian portable charger wouldn't work, but 5-15 does (@1mph).

Level3 DCs and several other level 2's have worked fine since.

So add me to the list of chokepoint2.0 home charging victims.

I got an answer from Rivian today. They had a couple of things to say of interest:

  1. The recommended (temporary) fix is to lower the amperage. They recommended taking it all the way down to 32 amps, but I'm running just fine at 40, so I'll probably keep it there.
  2. The more interesting feedback was that they say this is a known software bug and that it should be patched by the end of this month.
So, that explains why the exact same truck / charger config from last summer is not working well this summer. We'll have to say exactly what they say when the next patch notes come out.

That happened to me once and I park in a climate controlled garage with my charger also located in the same garage.
