Battery is too small and tow rating too little.
yeah, if towing is a big use case, the R1S is better.

why does the battery size matter? it will have just as much range as the R1S (if not more) and the smaller battery will be an advantage for road trips when charging,.

Range reduction during towing is worse the more aerodynamic the vehicle is (assuming aerodynamics is a large component of the reduction). No replacement for stored energy.

If Gravity was Lucid's first vehicle instead of Air, we would have bought the Gravity instead of R1S.

Not going to replace R1S. We're not one of those people that buy new vehicle, just because there is something else new.

When time comes to replace the R1S (4~6 yrs or 80k miles or so), we'll take a look at that time and hope that solid state battery vehicles would be in the mix (lighter, faster charge time and same or greater range depending on how much battery it includes).

anyone cross shopping or thinking of getting the Lucid Gravity? seems like it'll be a compelling option if starting price is at $80k.
i know it wont have much off-road chops but its pretty clear 95% of R1S owners dont go off-road so going to be direct competitor to the R1S and Model X.

Looks like more competition for the Model X.

Yup, I much prefer the boxy design of the R1S regardless of performance or range.
I had my 9 month old R1S (w/ 20" AT) on conserve for the first time yesterday, driving at 65mph (also a first) to see what would happen. I got about 2.84. Might not be surprising for most but was for me.

I hope LUCID and RIVIAN both succeed, there's room for that to happen. To those that never take a very capable vehicle off road....it seems the image they project is what is important. Rivian has definitely captured the adventure enthusiast market for sure regardless if they actually use the vehicles off road. LUCID needs a mid priced volume vehicle to survive, unless they can keep taping into the Saudi fund.....

Wish Lucid the best. Great specs and I think it will be a nice vehicle. But the Gravity is a minivan, so it won’t compete directly with the R1S.

It is about a foot shorter than the R1S, so that will impact interior space. The first and second row are space competitive with the R1S however, and likely will have better road performance.

I hope Lucid survives long enough to bring this vehicle to market.
It is the same length at just under 200”.

My daughter with 3 kids will love this. The only problem is it lacks FSD caliber ADAS. With kids screaming and fighting, Tesla’s FSD is God sent. At 198 inch, a bit shorter than R1S, about 10 inches shorter than a minivan. I really think minivan sized EVs will be a big hit if priced right.

I really liked the Gravity until I showed it to my wife. Her immediate reaction was "why are you showing me another minivan?" Now I can't unsee it.
Now that you say that, I do see a lot of Chrysler Pacifica in it...
