anyone cross shopping or thinking of getting the Lucid Gravity? seems like it'll be a compelling option if starting price is at $80k.
i know it wont have much off-road chops but its pretty clear 95% of R1S owners dont go off-road so going to be direct competitor to the R1S and Model X.

Does not appear to be comparing "apples to apples" when considering an R1S to a Gravity. Though advertised as an "SUV", the Gravity is clearly NOT a "SPORT Utility Vehicle", whereas the R1S is a true SUV that can go places, and travel on road conditions, that the Gravity shouldn't try. Looks like the comparison of Gravity should be with the likes of Mercedes, etc. The R1S and the Gravity have different "utility" and are luxury vs. sport. Want to impress the Valet at the Opera? Drive a Gravity. Want to impress and also have the freedom of the outdoors, towing, and recreation? Drive a Rivian R1S. Have kids, grandkids, or pets? The R1S is much better for this.

It does look pretty darn sexy. I've been in a Lucid Air before and the interior was quite nice and the build quality seemed first rate. For me the deal breaker is how much room do the occupants in the third row have? Also I'm curious about the efficiency. If their sedan is getting 5mi/kwh....
A Lucid is in my future assuming they stay in business. I’m looking for efficiency, so most likely a sedan, but one never knows.

Its definitely the best looking of the EV minivans. Will definitely steal some sales from the Model X. Likely won't impact the R1S at all.

It may be a good overall SUV but the design is not my cup of tea. It looks like a Buick with a huge rear wing. This will attract old pals that don't care much about its specs.

Not sure about this one unless you are taking those people and pets off road.
Lucid looks too nice on the inside. Wouldn't want kids eating and drinking in it. Wouldn't want dirty feet on those seats. Wouldn't want babies spitting up (or worse) on my nice seats. Wouldn't want my dog's claws or dirty paws in the backseat. Not saying the R1S isn't just as nice, and I certainly wouldn't want it messed up either. I am saying it looks like the R1S would be more durable because it is intended for more utility. Having a tailgate doesn't make the Lucid a true Sport Utility Vehicle.

Lucid brand looks like an "adult" car that I'd cringe on going to the messy sandy beach, or snowy mountains, with the grandkids. If I had both a Lucid and an R1S, I'd use the R1S about 5 times more and mainly use the Lucid for shopping, driving to church, and taking adult trips. (Kind of a waste.)

The original question was regarding consideration of the Lucid vs Rivian. My answer is it depends on your needs and usage. That's just my opinion.

The Gravity makes me think of a luxury van pool vehicle.

I think the Gravity is going to do extremely well. It is much more luxurious and has a better build quality than both the Model X and R1S. It’s going to appeal to a lot of people.
I personally just like the non-EV look of the R1S more, even if I’ll never use any of its off-road capabilities.

I love my R1S but definitely lacking in the luxury department for the price of the vehicle.

I'm worried about the future of the company going the way of Fisker. Rivian's survival also looked at risk until the VW investment recently. EV market is consolidating and I don't know if Lucid will be around in 10 years.

People talking about the build quality of Lucid and assuming that it will automatically translate to the Gravity seem to be minimizing the impact of very low production numbers of a single platform on that build quality. It is pretty ridiculous to think that would automatically carry over to higher volume production of multiple vehicle platforms.

@Mark_AZR1T Where can I find any info on the trims ? I'm also interested in the Gravity for range and road manners but also anticipate the trim I'm going to want will be unaffordable (or maybe just wouldn't want to spend that much on an SUV). I've read through what I can find. If I have to pay well over 100 for that range, it would sour the Gravity option for me.

The 2025 Air RWD at $69K is pretty nice. I would imagine you could pick up a low mile one in 18 months for $58K or so. I think it is a far better sedan than the Model S. I recently test drove one, and it was impressive.

I expect the Gravity to sell well, depending upon price point. It's obvious it can't be priced at the Air RWD at $69K, so entry level at $80K makes sense and $100K+ (all in model $119K) for something most would prefer. Losing $300K+ per vehicle is on the radar for Lucid for a long time. How much patience the Saudi's have remains to be seen.

The styling of that Lucid is nice in a jelly bean sort of way. But honestly, I prefer trucks and SUVs to be more boxy and cars to be more aero-inspired styling.

Trim's have not been published, although you can expect very nice, high-end finishes....you should for $100K+. Rivian fell short on the luxury department, but we love the R1 style, inside and out.
