anyone cross shopping or thinking of getting the Lucid Gravity? seems like it'll be a compelling option if starting price is at $80k.
i know it wont have much off-road chops but its pretty clear 95% of R1S owners dont go off-road so going to be direct competitor to the R1S and Model X.

It does look pretty darn sexy. I've been in a Lucid Air before and the interior was quite nice and the build quality seemed first rate. For me the deal breaker is how much room do the occupants in the third row have? Also I'm curious about the efficiency. If their sedan is getting 5mi/kwh....

Functionally, I'm sure it'll be great. But people don't buy cars strictly based on how practical they are and how well they function. You should see the number of Land Rover Defenders and Mercedes G-wagons around where I live without a spec of dirt on them. Or Ford Raptors for that matter. My bicycle is dirtier than those cars I see around. I think Lucid got the look wrong; internally, some of the engineers called it an AMG R-wagon which apparently didn't go over well with the head of design. And the R-wagon didn't have a long life.

I think the Gravity will be a fantastic EV. The biggest draw back to it is going to be that people associate it with being a minivan. That could be what does it in if it doesn't shine in every other way.

It is about a foot shorter than the R1S, so that will impact interior space. The first and second row are space competitive with the R1S however, and likely will have better road performance.

I hope Lucid survives long enough to bring this vehicle to market.

It's better looking in person than in photos. Even still, I think the design is polarizing. I like it; I feel it has this mid-century, retro futuristic vibe. However, my wife is also in the minivan camp.

I look forward to sitting in all three rows, and driving it when it reaches showrooms this fall.

Minivans get a bad wrap. They're very functional. As an engineer, functionality is the most important for me. I like the R1S because it's the largest interior and range vs the current competition. The Gravity I suspect could beat both of those. But it is basically a sporty minivan. I'm okay with that. I really enjoyed driving my Dad's old AWD Astro. The main difference between an SUV and a minivan is that the SUV has less interior space and more ground clearance. People shouldn't keep pretending that the SUV isn't just a raised wagon. And a minivan is just a taller wagon. :)

But, in the real world, many people do try to avoid the minivan look. Still it seems like it could be a really good option for most people if they can get over the fact that it's more like a minivan (aka it has more space).

whats wrong with minivans? its basically the same as an SUV without the sliding doors and slight ride height difference.

its definitely going to be efficient. thats what Lucid does. at least way more efficient than the R1S. and id guess slightly more efficient than the Model X.
i sat in a Lucid and its more luxurious than an R1S, definitely way more than the MX.

I call the Lucid Gravity a chop-top minivan. I'm also the practical engineer type. If I had kids, I'd probably have a minivan. My sister had an Odyssey and the power sliding doors were awesome. But you have to recognize there is a part of the population that "wouldn't be caught dead in a minivan".

I adore the Lucid Air, but the Gravity is ugly...

One of the huge reasons I love Rivian is because the R1 is a good looking vehicle. Not perfect, but pretty damn good looking.

I think it's going to do really well with suburban folks who don't care for top notch off-roading, and need 3 rows for hauling kids and groceries everyday. (Heck, when I see pictures of Rivians going "off-roading", even a Honda CR-V could go to many of those same places).

If the efficiency is going to be even remotely close to the Air, this will have a lot better efficiency than any Rivian R1. Not having the split tail gate will make it quicker to load/unload things. Also, I just love a flat load frunk. Rivian is the only truck out there without a flat load frunk, and I was hoping they'd incorporate that into the gen 2, but alas.

Battery is too small and tow rating too little.
