That sounds very disappointing.

I want to preface what I'm about to say by first stating that Rivian service has been great and they did fix the issues with my T and took good care of me back in July.

Unfortunately service wait times are the major weak link with Rivian right now. They are trying hard to improve it's clearly still a significant challenge.

They will need to address service soon as many folks can't and/or will not wait months for service appointments and then go weeks or months without their vehicles on top of that. It's totally unacceptable and Rivian needs to do better!

I know it's a difficult problem to solve but this has been going on for nearly a year now. Rivian needs to devote more resources to service.

OP, I wouldn't wait for service to 'contact you' about the dent.
Put in a service ticket yourself, with documentation (photos and dates/times/all of your interactions). Document all the things.

I was told on three separate occasions I didn't have to do anything and 'someone would take care of it,' and it never happened. Then when I'd reach out to service, or leave a nasty comment in the follow-up survey, I'd get a response "you should put in a ticket for that."

Hopefully this changes at some point, but so far, I've had to advocate for myself.

I took my R1S in for service recently. Mainly, I had the taillight recall, and an issue with the front trunk sensor causing it to not close automatically, and an electrical gremlin that turns on my dome light randomly. Since the service center closest to me is a 2+ hour drive, I asked them to look at some smaller issues like panel gaps, that didn't bother me enough to schedule a stand alone appointment previously, but I'd like improved if possible. Well, they adjusted the front quarter panel, fixed the front trunk sensor, said the rest was "in-spec". So, I get it home after another 4+ hour round trip, and the next day I notice a vertical crease on the rear door, by the window, where the panel contour changes. To my surprise, there was an identical crease on the other rear door as well. Plus a bonus ding higher up on the door.

I have another service appointment with them, which means another 8+ hours of driving for me, to get this fixed. Not a very happy customer currently. I can't believe I have to spend a full day of my time driving to get something fixed that never should have happened in the first place. Not to mention driving a rental with the impending winter weather here in Michigan.

Just got mine back from service center in Atlanta. Repair shop did an awesome job. No crease on body or door anymore. Perfect!

I just realized I forgot to give you guys an update on my situation.

Around Thanksgiving I submitted a service request through the app, with pictures of the small dent, since no one at the SC ever got back to me. A few days later, someone from Rivian called me telling me that they'd take care of it (although never formally admitted to any mistakes). They gave me the next available appointment date - March 5th!

He also mentioned since it's a clear body-shop fix (not something their SC can do), they'll find out if I can just directly drop it off earlier at the body shop for repair. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything back about that option. Since it's a small dent, I'm in no rush, as long as they fix it!
