I scheduled through the app and uploaded my pictures, then called the next day (a Friday). The service center moved my appointment up and I dropped the truck off four days later (Tuesday).
Yes I did similar to good effect.

BTW, truck is done although they deemed it to be clogged not cracked. I think they did change out some assembly but I await seeing the writeup.

Still having this issue!?
Is it R1T, R1S Gen 1, or both?
Should I expect it on my R1S?
Have driven it with A/C on always, sometimes for hours on end, have never seen a water leak of any kind in the cabin. Still nothing but the brand-new smell. VIN in the 30xxx.
Knock on my head!

So sorry to see this. Wow.

The smell has been there since about 2 weeks into ownership. Was not as offensive as it is now. Was not thinking it was mold in my brand new vehicle. It was when I was swapping out the floor mats that I saw all the moisture. The all weather mats were hiding it such that you would never know outside of the smell. Hindsight I wish I had investigated harder what may have been causing the smell issue.

I wouldn't expect it but when/if it happens you will know. I didn't have a small problem which grew over time. I had a truck with no problem for a year and then a big problem a day later.

The main point is to get it dealt with right away.

They seem to know the program now. In the week I was waiting for my appointment they preordered the assembly for replacement along with new carpet and padding. Annoying problem but they were responsive.

Update:

- First off, I will say that so far I have been very pleased with the efforts made to get me into service as quickly as possible. There have been a lot of Rivian gripes about this, butty experience thus far has been positive. It's a little annoying that I have to call a call center and rely on them to get me in touch with the local SC, but it worked. I am scheduled to drop my car this Friday.

- Second, I am also encouraged that Rivian was willing to order the parts of the anticipated issue (HVAC) in advance of my vehicle being dropped out. Most repair departments will require to see the vehicle first, even if they think they know the issue. Rivian was all over it purely based on the photos and write up.

- I am not sure if I will get a loaner, or if they will place me in a rental car, but they were also very accommodating reserving a full sized SUV for me in case there are no loaners.

- Repair time is unknown. They did quote that it could be a couple weeks. Right now, I just want it fixed, so whatever it takes.

More to come.

Taking delivery of a Gen 2 R1S on 9/20…

It seems like I will want to check the front driver and passenger footwell regularly for moisture as a sign this problem is occurring?

If I have all weather mats, I should lift them to check?

This is probably my biggest worry for potential service items right now.

Thanks for the positive post - when I dropped mine off for the same issue last week they told me it would be at least two weeks and requested that I don't ping her for updates until we get close to that two-week mark. It's not unreasonable AND I have a nice R1S loaner.

Hopefully you'll get a Rivian as well. I told her that I'd prefer a R1S (a R1T would barely fit in my garage) and she said she had a bunch of T's but only a few S's, but I got an S. Quite honestly, I'm in no hurry because I'm putting miles on their ride instead of mine. I miss PAAK and multiple driver settings, but we're adjusting. Keep up the good spirits and know that Rivian will make it right.

Yes, that is where it came from and was most obvious with the all weather mats because the condensation builds on those very quickly when the mats are wet underneath. A smell would also be an indicator of there possibly being a leak somewhere where mold/mildew may be building up.

Hopefully mine is not a reflection of the majority of the other Gen 2s. I was the first vehicle delivered in Florida, so they may continue to improve on the production line. Always good to be cautious though.

Zero other issues faced on the vehicle other than this (as I am knocking on wood).

I don't think there are a lot of us with this issue out of the 100,000 vehicles on the road, but it is something to watch out for. I found it quickly because I don't have my all-weather mats installed and the moisture leaked up through the Chilewich mats. I'm sure it would have taken much longer if I hadn't noticed that my flip-flops had water on the bottom of them as I stepped out of the Rivian. With waterproof mats you'll definitely have to lift them up to check the carpeting under them.

The driver's side was much worse so you would only have to check it every couple of days if you're really worried. We had our Rivian for a full year before the issue hit us so I'm not sure how often you'd want to check. It's a tough one to answer.

Gen 1 R1T owner here. This just happened to mine after owning it for 20 months in Fla. I didn't get many details on the replacement of the HVAC. Needed carpet replacement as well. Found out when the 12v shut down and locked me out. Rivian towed it to the SC and got me a rental then loaner next day. As good a service as I could have asked for. But certainly an issue keeping an eye on.

Apparently there is something with the seal that is not designed well. The canister fills up with water, and instead of leaking to the exterior of the car like it is supposed to, it escapes through the inferior seal that is on these cars from the factory. Sounds like the repair will involve some new parts, as well as a reinforcement to the parts they receive to help eliminate the problem from happening again.

They are still in the diagnosing phase, so not certain this is my issue (though it is assumed it is), but the above is what the tech described to me when I dropped it off.

I just got my R1 Gen 1 back from the Rivian shop in Atlanta for this EXACT same problem. It was explained to me as a crack in the AC condensate drain pipe. They had to replace my carpeting and repair the HVAC drain pipe. To do this service, they had to remove the front dash assembly as well as both front seats. It was in the shop for nearly 3 weeks but I don't think the actual repairs took more than 2 days or so. They gave me a rental through Enterprise for the duration of the repair so it wasn't too bad but I did miss my R1!
My Gen 1 R1T is at the ATL SC now. I had an appointment for Aug 30 for this issue and a few others. I was alarmed that they knew exactly what the issue was. I told them I had water on the back of my all weather mats and they ordered parts to replace my HVAC and carpet. I don't think I have mold. I was told they would have to remove my desk to get the HVAC system. They estimated 9 shop hours. I was told my R1T would be there for 1 week. This is the start of my second week (Sept 9). I called Rivian at the end of the first week (based on their estimate). I was told they would call me back Monday (yesterday). No call. I am hoping to get it back at the end of this week.

I am happy they put me in an R1S. I wanted to try one of them. I did not want a gas car/suv from Enterprise. I am over gas cars. lol

I miss my R1T. I miss my tinted windows and my meridian sound system. BTW one of my issues was a busted door speaker. It was that way when I bought the R1T. I can't wait to hear my upgraded/updated meridian sound system.

ONE minute after I posted this Rivian called me to say my R1T should be done by the end of this week. We are waiting on one part to come in. My drivers door was misaligned and rubbing the rear passenger door. They are replacing a B-pillar part.

Just discovered this same issue today ☹ in our Gen1 R1S.The carpet in the driver and passenger foot wells was soaked & the white mold was starting to appear. I didn’t notice until we came out to the car one morning and the glass roof was dripping with condensation.
I vacuumed a solid pint or more of water out of the carpets and have a fan blasting them in the garage overnight.

We’ve had the R1S for 11 months, and I haven’t had any AC problems up till now.

I put a service request in on the app and based on this helpful thread, will call them tomorrow to speed up the appointment. Thank you all for sharing - I hope I can get in earlier than the 2 months out the app said! ?

That's almost the exact same timing as our R1S having this issue. I'm guessing you have the all-weather mats or you would have likely noticed it earlier. We have the Chilewich mats in for the summer and I noticed I left a footprint on the garage floor - that was the trigger to check the carpeting. After I dried the carpeting I found that we could do 15-minute local runs with the A/C on without any more moisture in the carpet. I tried to keep the A/C off as much as possible though. Hopefully it's getting a little cooler for you and you'll be able to do the same until you can get it fixed.

We were able to get into the Gaithersburg MD service center in two weeks and they kept Rosey for three weeks. We had a R1S loaner in the same LA Silver so about the only way friends could tell the difference was by noticing the Illinois Manufacturer plates. After using a keycard for three weeks with the loaner we were REALLY happy to go back to PAAK with ours.
