I had recently ordered the Michelin Defender LTX in the 275/50/22 XL through DiscountTires website. I got a call today that as we thought, these are not available until April (per Michelin). Change of plans…going to try out the Continental terrain contact H/T’s.

Well, today I did 2.6 miles per kw on all purpose!. I’m attaching pics at your request! Incredibly split and quiet!

Looks great! How does 2.6 compare to another similar 15 minute interval on your truck?

the 30 mile commute was fluctuating between 2.5 to 2.7. Before the tires I was at 2 and with best case scenario 2.1. But it’s 32 degrees outside now and the 2.0 it was 80-90.

Holy crap - so you’re seeing a 25% increase in efficiency from A/Ts to the MS2? That’s a lot more than I expected.

Sorry if it’s already been asked…so did you drop down to the 60 series tire? So a, 275/60/20 vs original Perilli was a 275/65/20? If so, that explains a lot…the 60 is slightly smaller (more efficient) and the Michelin in that size is 42 lbs vs 57 lbs for the OEM tire, both factors are significant and combine them, lighter tire and small diameter equals the great results your seeing.

That’s correct. That’s what I was expecting and now maybe I can tow for more than 130 miles. If I get half, that’s 1.3 vs the 1 that I used to get. The efficiency should be greater towing.

I was expecting more than 20% based on Kyle’s test of 21 vs 20, I think they said the difference between the 20 at and 21 was around 20%. I don’t know why i didn’t do this before.

Forgot to mention you are right in lighter and smaller. Don’t forget the rolling resistance as well so that’s three variables improving.

Nice…I really think Rivian should have used this size as the high range size. The 21” is just a silly size. So many options for the 20” rim.

Have you used your trip meter to check these numbers? I'm sure it's still a strong improvement, but trip meter is more accurate than the efficiency-on-the-fly meter.

Yes. It matches. What's more, I used to use 12-14% of my battery for the commute. Yesterday was 10% and today was 9%. I'll keep logging. Attaching a pic of this months usage before the tire change, I was averaging 1.85, but that's because I towed about 100 miles, which lowered my average. I'm going to reset this Dec 1.

Hindsight I should've gone 22s to get closer guessometer but that speedometer and off efficiency was killing me.
Aren’t 21’s and 22’s the same tire diameter?
