Gen 1 R1T Quad Large
Hi all,

First post and second day of ownership of my Gen 1 R1T quad large.

I noticed in the first 24 hours that when I tried to activate cruise control or driver +, nothing happened. No tones. No messages. Just nothing.

Rivian support had me do a soft and then full reset of the car with no results.

At highway speeds, 65 mph, with no traffic around me and clearly marked lane lines, I can't even get ACC to activate. Nothing happens when I pull the stalk down at all.

Any thoughts on this or experience?

Appreciate your help!

Hey there. You should get a message if there is a problem with the system. You should also hear some audible feedback when you attempt to engage.

tap down once on the right stalk to engage TACC and tap down twice on the right stalk to enable driver+ highway assist where available.

if you don’t get any of there it may be a malfunction with the stalk. In that case it’s time to schedule service.

Sounds like service is inevitable. What a shame.

Thanks for the reply!

There have been a few reports of bugs with recent software releases and cruise control. I had an issue this past Monday. ACC was working as normal since delivery over a year ago, and then it just would not work. I did get a message “Not available” when I tried to engage ACC (1 press) or highway assist (2 presses).

I pulled over and put it in park in case it was angry about hands on the steering wheel. No joy. I did not do any resets. I let it sleep overnight as I had read another comment here that sleep fixed similar issues.. The next day, it was all working normally. ?‍♂

I find Highway Assist only works on Interstate Highways. Never works on State Highways and below.

Hmm let me try this evening… my understanding it is activated with a double tap in the down ward direction on the right lever

I have the exact same thing, just picked up my R1S the previous Saturday and cruise control, Driver+, and auto wipers don't work. Really annoyed that a brand new vehicle that should have gone through QA before delivery isn't working out the door. I have already scheduled service, I have a feeling they are all related.

Ah man. Hate that I’m not the only one experiencing it.

I did confirm today that my auto wipers are in fact working though.

Yeah, I hate that someone else is experiencing the same. Glad to hear your auto wipers are working. That makes me even more frustrated that it's possibly unrelated. My service date is October 1st and another frustration is they want me to take it to the service center which on a good day is 45 minutes away with traffic. Next mobile appt isn't' until the end of October.

Man what I wouldn't give for a 45 minute drive to a service center! I have 4hrs one way and I know a lot of others are in the same boat as I. Obviously, it stinks to have these issues and I certainly hope it gets sorted out soon but I'm not sure there will be much sympathy for a 45 minute drive.

I was just reading that gen 2 drivers need to pull the stalk towards them instead of down. Maybe you have a gen 1 with a gen 2 stalk.
